Clamping Plate for Indicator Switch – 40mm Steering Column
Restore the correct mounting of the indicator switch on your
Porsche 356A with this OE Match Indicator Switch Clamping Plate, designed
specifically for steering columns with a 40mm diameter.
Fits:
- Porsche 356A 1955-59
The clamping plate forms part of the indicator switch mounting arrangement, allowing the switch assembly to be securely positioned around the steering column. It is an important small component when rebuilding the steering column, replacing an indicator switch or restoring the dashboard and steering controls of a Porsche 356A.
What Does the Indicator Switch Clamping Plate Do?
The clamping plate provides the secure mounting point required to hold the indicator switch assembly in its correct position on the steering column.
When correctly installed, it helps prevent the switch assembly from rotating, moving or becoming loose during operation.
Its main functions include:
- Securing the indicator switch to the steering column
- Maintaining the correct switch position
- Preventing unwanted movement during operation
- Providing a firm mounting point for the indicator switch assembly
- Supporting smooth and consistent indicator switch operation
- Helping restore the original steering column arrangement
Although it is a relatively simple component, correct fitment is important. A loose or incorrectly mounted indicator switch can make the control feel unstable and detract from the quality of a restored interior.
Designed for 40mm Steering Columns
This version is specifically designed for Porsche 356A applications equipped with a 40mm diameter steering column.
Checking the steering column diameter before ordering is important to ensure the correct clamping plate is selected.
Ideal for Porsche 356A Restoration
Small steering column and dashboard components are often missing, damaged or unsuitable for reuse after decades of previous repairs and restoration work.
This OE Match clamping plate provides a practical
replacement when:
- Installing a replacement indicator switch
- Rebuilding the steering column
- Restoring the dashboard controls
- Replacing missing mounting hardware
- Refurbishing an original indicator switch assembly
- Carrying
out a complete Porsche 356A restoration
Indicator Switch, Steering Column & Electrical Parts
The steering column controls are an important part of both the function and appearance of a classic Porsche 356A interior. Small components such as clamps, mounting plates, switches and associated hardware ensure that the controls remain securely positioned and operate as intended.
During a Porsche 356A restoration, these smaller components can easily be overlooked. However, worn, damaged or missing indicator switch mounting hardware can prevent the switch assembly from fitting securely to the steering column.
Using the correct clamping plate for a 40mm steering column helps restore the original mounting arrangement while providing a secure foundation for the indicator switch.
When rebuilding the assembly, it is also worthwhile inspecting the indicator switch, wiring, steering column components and associated mounting hardware for wear or previous modifications.
