Its formulation provides a stable lubricating film even
under demanding operating conditions, with an increased proportion of
wear-protection components. It also offers strong cleaning and dispersing
properties to help prevent sludge formation and keep contaminants suspended
within the oil.
What Does Touring High Tech HD 30 Do?
Touring High Tech HD 30 lubricates and protects the internal moving components of older petrol and diesel engines where an SAE 30 single-grade oil is specified.
Unlike a multigrade oil such as 20W-50, SAE 30 has a single viscosity classification. This makes it particularly relevant to classic engines and mechanical assemblies originally designed to operate with a straight-grade lubricant.
LIQUI MOLY states that the oil provides high wear resistance, excellent cleaning, good ageing stability, high shear stability and reliable lubrication.
Why Choose Touring High Tech HD 30?
This oil is particularly useful where the engine or equipment manufacturer specifically calls for a mildly blended SAE 30 lubricant.
Key benefits include:
- Mineral-based formulation
- SAE 30 single-grade viscosity
- High wear resistance
- Stable lubricating film under demanding conditions
- Helps prevent sludge formation
- Excellent cleaning properties
- Very good dispersing properties
- High shear stability
- Good ageing stability
- Suitable for petrol and diesel engines
- Suitable for naturally aspirated and turbocharged applications
- Tested for catalytic converter compatibility
LIQUI MOLY describes Touring High Tech HD 30 as particularly suitable for older vehicles and assemblies and confirms compatibility with turbochargers.
How Does LIQUI MOLY Touring High Tech HD 30 Differ?
LIQUI MOLY Touring High Tech HD 30. It is a SAE 30 mineral single-grade oil. It carries ACEA E2 and API SJ/CF/CF-4 specifications and is designed for classic engines and older assemblies requiring a mildly blended straight-grade oil.
LIQUI MOLY MoS2 Low-Friction 20W-50. It is a mineral-based multigrade oil containing molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) solid lubricant. It is intended for petrol and diesel engines, including turbocharged engines, particularly under demanding operating conditions. LIQUI MOLY recommends it for ACEA A3/B4 and API SL applications.
LIQUI MOLY Classic Motoroil SAE 20W-50 HD. This is also a mineral multigrade oil, but unlike MoS2 Low-Friction 20W-50 it is specifically formulated as a mildly blended classic vehicle oil rather than an MoS2 friction-reducing formulation. It is designed for classic cars and motorcycles with oil .
In simple terms:
- SAE 30 single-grade mineral oil for older engines and assemblies specifically requiring SAE 30.
- SAE 20W-50 mineral multigrade with MoS2 solid lubricant, aimed at strong wear protection under demanding conditions.
- SAE 20W-50 mineral multigrade specifically formulated for classic engines with an oil filter.
They should not be treated as interchangeable purely because they are mineral-based oils. The correct choice depends on the viscosity and specification required by the engine manufacturer.
Suitable Applications
LIQUI MOLY specifies Touring High Tech HD 30 for petrol and diesel engines and particularly for older vehicles and assemblies. It can also be used in turbocharged applications where the required oil specification matches.
For classic Porsche applications, always check the engine manufacturer's required viscosity and specification. An SAE 30 straight-grade oil should only be selected where this viscosity is appropriate for the particular engine and operating conditions.
Classic Porsche SAE 30 Mineral Engine Oils
Single-grade mineral engine oils remain relevant for classic vehicles and older mechanical assemblies originally designed around traditional lubricant specifications.
LIQUI MOLY Touring High Tech HD 30 combines an SAE 30 viscosity with modern additive technology while retaining the mineral-based, mildly blended formulation required by certain older engines. Its cleaning and dispersing properties help combat sludge formation, while increased wear-protection components help maintain a reliable lubricating film under demanding operating conditions.

The MoS2 content forms an additional lubricating film on friction and sliding surfaces within the engine, helping provide excellent protection against wear, particularly during demanding operating conditions. LIQUI MOLY specifically recommends this oil for applications involving extreme operating conditions and extended intervals between oil changes.
What Does MoS2 Low-Friction 20W-50 Do?
Engine oil provides a lubricating film between moving engine components to reduce friction, control wear and help protect the engine under varying temperatures and loads.
LIQUI MOLY enhances this 20W-50 mineral oil with molybdenum disulphide. This solid lubricant provides additional protection to highly loaded friction surfaces and gives the oil particularly strong emergency-running properties.
The formulation also provides good lubrication immediately after a cold start and helps maintain engine cleanliness.
Why Choose an MoS2 Engine Oil?
MoS2 Low-Friction 20W-50 is particularly suited to engines operating under demanding conditions where additional wear protection is desirable.
Benefits identified by LIQUI MOLY include:
Excellent wear protection Good cold-start behaviour Immediate lubrication after starting Outstanding engine cleanliness Excellent emergency-running properties Protection under extreme operating conditions Suitable for petrol and diesel engines Suitable for engines with or without turbocharging
Suitable Applications
LIQUI MOLY specifies MoS2 Low-Friction 20W-50 for petrol and diesel engines, including turbocharged applications. It is particularly recommended where vehicles experience demanding operating conditions or longer periods between oil changes.
For Porsche applications, always check the engine manufacturer's required viscosity and oil specification before use. SAE 20W-50 may be appropriate for certain older or classic Porsche engines, but it should not be assumed suitable for every Porsche model.
LIQUI MOLY MoS2 20W-50 Engine Oil for Classic & Older Porsche Engines
Choosing the correct engine oil is particularly important for older and classic Porsche engines, where operating clearances, temperatures and lubrication requirements can differ significantly from those of modern engines.
LIQUI MOLY MoS2 Low-Friction 20W-50 combines selected mineral base oils with a high additive content and molybdenum disulphide solid lubricant. This formulation is designed to provide a stable lubricating film and excellent wear protection, even under demanding operating conditions.
The oil is suitable for petrol and diesel engines with or without turbocharging and carries LIQUI MOLY recommendations for ACEA A3/B4 and API SL applications.

MoS2 forms a highly resistant lubricating film across rubbing and sliding metal surfaces inside the engine. Combined with the 10W-40 semi-synthetic base oil, this provides rapid lubrication during cold starts and helps reduce friction once the engine reaches operating temperature
What Does MoS2 Leichtlauf 10W-40 Do?
Engine oil creates a lubricating film between moving components, reducing direct metal-to-metal contact and helping control friction, heat and wear.
LIQUI MOLY adds MoS2 solid lubricant to provide an
additional high-load lubricating film on internal friction surfaces. This is
particularly beneficial during starting and warm-up, under heavy engine loads
and in stop-start driving conditions.
The formulation is designed to provide:
- Excellent protection against wear
- Rapid lubrication after a cold start
- Reduced internal friction
- Good cold-start behaviour
- Excellent engine cleanliness
- Stable viscosity
- Good resistance to ageing
- Excellent emergency-running properties
- Reduced oil and fuel consumption
LIQUI MOLY describes the oil as a special development combining low-friction engine oil technology with the additional protection of MoS2 solid lubricant.
Why Use MoS2 Engine Oil?
Molybdenum disulphide is a solid lubricant that forms a protective lubricating film on metal surfaces. This provides an additional layer of protection alongside the conventional oil film.
This makes MoS2 Leichtlauf particularly suitable for engines where reducing friction and protecting heavily loaded internal components are priorities.
The oil can be used in petrol and diesel engines and has been tested for both turbocharger and catalytic converter compatibility. LIQUI MOLY particularly recommends it for vehicles without a diesel particulate filter.
