Designed to maintain a secure seal within the air filter housing assembly, this gasket helps prevent unwanted air and contaminants bypassing the intended filtration path.
Over time, original gaskets can harden, crack or deteriorate, making replacement important during airbox maintenance or engine restoration.
What Does It Do?
The gasket seals the corresponding joint within the air filter housing, helping maintain correct airflow through the air cleaner assembly and preventing unwanted gaps.
Why Does It Fail?
Common causes include:
- Age-related material deterioration
- Heat and temperature changes
- Compression and loss of flexibility
- Oil contamination
- Damage during air filter servicing
When Should It Be Replaced?
Replace the gasket if it becomes cracked, flattened, brittle or damaged. Replacement is also recommended when refurbishing the air filter housing or rebuilding the intake assembly.
Checks & Diagnosis
Inspect the gasket for splits, distortion or missing sections. Check the mating surfaces for dirt or damage that could prevent proper sealing.
Installation Notes
Remove the old gasket and clean the mating surfaces before fitting. Ensure the replacement sits correctly without twisting or trapping material when reassembling the air filter housing.

Prevents costly airbox explosions, installed with the engine and air box in place. 911 engines since 1973 have had the bad habit of backfiring and blowing a hole an the air box. 911 POP VALVE is installed inside the air box and when a backfire occurs the valve will instantly open and release the backfire pressure. The POP VALVE then automatically closes and the angine continues to run. The POP VALVE has no effect on the performance or fuel mileage.
