A lowered ride height is a must for any car used on the track or for performance street driving. The biggest down side to this modification is ground clearance. Speed bumps, pot holes or the occasional "Off Track" excursion can cause some serious damage to the underside of your car. The Rennline Aluminum Skid Plates have been designed to eliminate those concerns. Rennline's skid plate conceals the entire underside of the fuel tank as well as the fuel pump, steering rack, and much of the front control arm and are formed so that no edges will get caught on objects when traveling forward, backwards or sideways. Hardware is included and installation takes about 5 minutes with no drilling required.
These skid plates work with factory or Rennline front tie downs, and will also work with a 100L fuel tank.
Compatible with '78-'89 911/930 or earlier cars with the later aluminum cross member. Will not work on cars with front condenser.

Undertrays & Skid Plates |- Critical Protection for Motorsport & Off-Road Driving
Undertrays and skid plates are designed to shield vital vehicle components—such as the engine, transmission, exhaust, and suspension—from impacts, debris, and ground strikes during motorsport and off-road driving. By absorbing and deflecting impacts, these protective panels help prevent costly mechanical damage while allowing confident operation over rough terrain and competitive stages.
Available from Design911, undertrays and skid plates are manufactured from durable materials to deliver maximum protection without compromising performance or airflow.
What Do Undertrays & Skid Plates Do?
Underbody protection components safeguard critical systems and structures.
Core Functions:
- Protect engine, gearbox, and drivetrain components
- Deflect rocks, debris, and ground impacts
- Reduce risk of punctures and mechanical damage
- Maintain vehicle reliability in harsh conditions
- Support safe, aggressive off-road and motorsport driving
They are essential for vehicles exposed to uneven terrain or competitive environments.
Why Do Undertrays & Skid Plates Fail?
Undertrays and skid plates absorb repeated impacts and environmental exposure.
Common Causes of Failure:
- Impact deformation from rocks or obstacles
- Metal fatigue or cracking after repeated strikes
- Mounting point damage or fastener failure
- Corrosion from water, mud, and road salt
- Poor-quality materials or incorrect fitment
Damaged protection can expose critical components to serious risk.
When Should Undertrays & Skid Plates Be Replaced?
Undertrays and skid plates should be replaced when:
- Cracks, bends, or holes are visible
- Mounting points become loose or damaged
- Protection no longer sits flush or secure
- Preparing for more demanding off-road use
- Upgrading to heavier-duty protection systems
Routine inspection and timely replacement maintain vehicle protection and reliability.
Highlights
- Motorsport- and off-road–ready underbody protection
- Shields critical mechanical components
- Durable construction for extreme conditions
- Improves reliability and confidence off-road
