What This Product Does:
- The rear drop link connects the rear anti-roll bar (also called stabiliser bar) to the rear suspension arm or axle carrier. Under cornering, the anti-roll bar transfers load from one side of the rear suspension to the other, helping reduce body roll and maintain tyre contact.
- In a standard link, the joint usually has a rubber or polyurethane bushing that allows articulation but with some compliance. The uniball version replaces the bushing with a spherical bearing which allows joint motion with much less compliance and greater precision.
- The result: faster, sharper response of the stabiliser bar to suspension movement; less flex in the link; more direct force transfer; improved rear stability during cornering or dynamic driving.
Symptoms & Signs Of Wear / When To Upgrade:
- Clunking or knocking noises from the rear suspension when going over bumps or during rapid direction changes — likely indicating wear in the link joint or bushing.
- Excessive body roll or vague rear end feel in corners — if the anti-roll bar isn’t applying its load properly because the link is loose or soft, the rear end can feel less stable.
- Uneven rear tyre wear (especially outer shoulder) or strange rear alignment behaviour — since the stabiliser may not be transferring load correctly under dynamic conditions.
- If you’ve upgraded other suspension components (stiffer springs, wider tyres, track usage) and the rear still “feels soft” or delayed — the link may be the “weak link” in the system.
- On inspection: you might see excessive play in the link joint, torn or degraded boots, corrosion, or a bent link. When an OEM rubber bushing link is worn, the uniball version is a logical upgrade path.
Why This Upgrade Matters:
- Reduced compliance = sharper handling: By replacing a rubber-bushed link with a spherical bearing, you reduce unwanted movement. This means the rear anti-roll bar is engaged more directly, giving you a firmer, more predictable rear end under cornering.

The ideal sway bar (anti roll bar) is completely unloaded at static ride height. Stock drops links almost always preload the sway bar since the car doesn't sit perfectly level due to asymmetries such as driver weight. Our front and rear adjustable-length drop links for C4/C2 allow you to eliminate preload of the sway bar for maximum performance.
A preloaded sway bar shifts the weight carried by each of the tyres, increasing grip on weighted ones at the expense of decreasing grip on un-weighted ones. This shifted weight/grip causes uneven handling in left and right turns, and premature brake lockup since the less-loaded tyre locks up first. Preload can be completely eliminated by adjusting drop link length and sway bar performance optimized.
