This complete front lower wishbone kit for the Porsche 970.1
Panamera provides a full solution for worn or failing lower suspension arms.
The kit includes:
- 2 x front lower wishbones (left and right)
- 6 x new mounting bolts
- 8 x new mounting nuts
Engineered for precise fitment and durability, this kit restores proper front suspension geometry, steering accuracy and ride stability.
What Front Lower Wishbones Do
Front lower wishbones, also known as lower control arms, are critical suspension components that connect the wheel hub assembly to the vehicle chassis. They allow controlled vertical wheel movement while maintaining correct alignment and geometry.
On the Porsche Panamera 970.1, the lower wishbones help to:
- Maintain correct camber and caster angles
- Control wheel movement over uneven surfaces
- Support braking stability
- Provide accurate steering response
- Reduce vibration and road harshness
Integrated bushes and ball joints within the wishbone absorb load and allow smooth articulation during driving.
Why Lower Wishbones Fail
Over time, lower wishbones are exposed to:
- Constant suspension movement
- Heavy vehicle weight
- Road impacts and potholes
- Heat and environmental contamination
- Rubber bush degradation
As the bushes crack or soften and ball joints wear, suspension geometry becomes unstable.
Common symptoms of worn front lower wishbones include:
- Knocking or clunking noises over bumps
- Steering vibration Uneven or rapid tyre wear
- Pulling to one side under braking
- Reduced handling precision MOT advisories or failures
Mounting bolts and nuts can also stretch or corrode over time. Reusing old hardware can compromise clamping force and safety.
Why You May Need a Complete Wishbone and Hardware Kit
Replacing both lower wishbones together ensures balanced suspension performance across the front axle. Installing new mounting bolts and nuts guarantees correct torque specification and secure installation.
This complete kit is ideal for:
- High mileage Porsche 970.1 Panamera models
- Vehicles with front-end knocking or instability
- Suspension rebuild or refresh projects
- Wheel alignment correction
- Preventative maintenance before tyre replacement
Replacing worn lower control arms restores the driving precision expected from a Porsche luxury performance saloon.

Front Wishbone (A-Frame)
Restore the precision handling and suspension performance of your classic Porsche 911 with this OE Match Front A Arm Wishbone, designed for Porsche 911 models produced between 1974 and 1989. As a critical component of the front suspension system, the A arm wishbone helps maintain correct wheel alignment, suspension geometry and steering response, ensuring the vehicle delivers the driving characteristics Porsche intended.
Manufactured to OE specifications, this replacement front wishbone provides the correct fit, strength and durability required for both road and enthusiast driving. Whether you're carrying out a complete suspension rebuild, replacing worn components or restoring a classic air-cooled 911, this OE Match A arm offers dependable performance and factory-correct fitment.
What Does the Front A Arm Wishbone Do?
The front A arm wishbone is one of the primary suspension
links connecting the front wheel assembly to the vehicle chassis. It allows
controlled vertical wheel movement while maintaining proper wheel positioning
during acceleration, braking and cornering.
Fits:
- Porsche 911 1974-1977 2.7L / 1976-77 3.0 Carrera

The wishbone works alongside suspension bushes, ball joints,
dampers and anti-roll bar components to:
Maintain
correct front suspension geometry.
A properly functioning A arm is essential for preserving the renowned balance and driving dynamics of the classic Porsche 911.
Why Do Front A Arm Wishbones Fail?
Although the wishbone itself is a robust component, years of use and exposure to road conditions can eventually lead to wear, damage or deterioration.
Common causes of failure include:
- Corrosion from moisture and road contaminants.
- Impact damage from potholes, kerbs or road debris.
- Fatigue caused by decades of suspension loading.
- Distortion from accidents or heavy impacts.
- Wear around bush mounting points.
- Damage resulting from seized or deteriorated suspension bushes.
On older Porsche 911 models, suspension components may have been subjected to decades of stress, making inspection and replacement an important part of any restoration or maintenance programme.
When Should a Front A Arm Wishbone Be Replaced?
The front wishbone should be inspected whenever suspension
work is carried out. Replacement may be necessary if you experience:
- Excessive play in the suspension.
- Uneven tyre wear.
- Poor steering response.
- Vehicle pulling to one side.
- Clunking or knocking noises from the front suspension.
- Visible corrosion or structural damage.
- Incorrect wheel alignment that cannot be adjusted.
- During a complete front suspension rebuild.
Replacing worn or damaged suspension arms helps restore factory handling characteristics and improves both safety and driving confidence.
