The Fabspeed Porsche 991.2 Turbo / Turbo S XperTune Performance Software is a specialist ECU tuning solution designed to increase horsepower, torque and engine responsiveness on Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S models manufactured between 2017 and 2020.
Fits:
- Porsche 991.2 Turbo Coupe 3.8L (540 Bhp) 2016-19
- Porsche 991.2 Turbo S Coupe 3.8L (580 Bhp) 2016-19

- Porsche 991.2 Turbo S Cabriolet 3.8L (580 Bhp) 2016-19
Developed specifically for Porsche's 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, XperTune optimises the factory engine management calibration to unlock additional performance potential while maintaining the sophisticated electronic control systems used by the vehicle.
The Porsche 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S feature advanced engine management systems that control ignition timing, fuel delivery, turbocharger boost pressure and numerous other operating parameters.
In standard form, these systems are calibrated to provide a balance of performance, reliability, emissions compliance, fuel quality tolerance and everyday driving refinement.
Fabspeed's XperTune software modifies selected engine management parameters to create a more performance-focused calibration suited to the vehicle's mechanical configuration.
The software is designed to increase available power and torque, improve throttle response and enhance acceleration characteristics.
According to Fabspeed's published figures, the upgrade can deliver gains of up to 110 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque, depending on vehicle specification and operating conditions.
Unlike conventional fixed ECU remapping, the XperTune system incorporates a handheld tuning device that allows the owner to manage compatible calibration files through the vehicle's OBD-II diagnostic connection.
For the Porsche 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S, the ECU must first undergo a one-time unlocking process before handheld programming is possible.
Once the ECU has been unlocked, the handheld tuner enables the vehicle to be programmed with the supplied Fabspeed performance calibration without repeatedly removing and shipping the ECU.
The handheld device also stores the original factory calibration, allowing the vehicle to be returned to its standard software configuration when required.
Fabspeed offers calibrations for completely standard vehicles as well as cars equipped with compatible performance modifications, including upgraded exhaust systems, sports catalytic converters and turbocharger hardware.
This makes XperTune suitable for owners seeking a software-only performance upgrade or a calibration matched to a broader engine performance package.
What This Product Does:
The Fabspeed XperTune software adjusts selected engine management parameters to optimise the performance characteristics of the Porsche 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S.
Its primary functions include:
- Increases Horsepower Potential: Provides a performance-oriented calibration designed to produce greater engine output.
- Increases Torque Delivery: Optimises engine management settings to support stronger acceleration.
- Adjusts Turbocharger Boost Control: Can modify boost-related parameters within the vehicle's engine management system.
- Optimises Fuel Delivery: Adjusts relevant fuelling parameters to suit the intended calibration.
- Optimises Ignition Management: Can revise ignition timing strategies within the manufacturer's engine control architecture.
- Enhances Throttle Response: May produce a more immediate response to accelerator inputs.
- Improves Acceleration Characteristics: Increased torque and power potential can improve acceleration under suitable conditions.
- Supports Modified Vehicles: Allows the calibration to be specified for compatible intake, exhaust and turbocharger modifications.
- Provides Handheld ECU Programming: Enables supported calibration files to be transferred through the OBD-II diagnostic port after ECU unlocking.
- Stores the Original ECU Calibration: Allows the original software file to be retained for later restoration.
- Enables Return to Factory Software: Provides the ability to reinstall the original calibration using the handheld device.
- Supports Vehicle-Specific Tuning: Fabspeed creates the supplied calibration using the vehicle information and modification details provided.
How Does The XperTune System Work:
The XperTune system uses a hybrid ECU tuning process.
Stage 1 – Initial ECU Unlocking
- The Porsche 991.2 Turbo's ECU requires a one-time unlocking procedure to enable subsequent handheld programming.
- The ECU must be removed and sent to Fabspeed for this initial process, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Stage 2 – Reading the Factory Calibration
- Once the ECU is unlocked and installed, the handheld tuning device connects to the vehicle's OBD-II diagnostic port.
- The device reads the relevant original ECU information and stores the factory calibration.
Stage 3 – Vehicle-Specific Calibration
- The factory information and completed vehicle specification form are provided to Fabspeed.
- Their tuning team prepares a calibration based on the vehicle's engine specification, fuel requirements and declared modifications.
Stage 4 – Installing the Performance Software
- Using a compatible Windows computer, the customer transfers the supplied performance calibration to the handheld tuner.
- The device is then connected to the vehicle to program the ECU.
Stage 5 – Returning to Standard Calibration
- After the initial unlocking process, the original factory calibration can be restored using the handheld device without removing the ECU again.
Why Upgrading Matters:
The Fabspeed XperTune upgrade is designed for drivers who want to increase the performance potential of their Porsche 991.2 Turbo or Turbo S without immediately requiring extensive mechanical modifications.
- Increased Power Potential: Fabspeed advertises gains of up to 110 HP.
- Improved Torque Potential: The manufacturer reports gains of up to 118 lb-ft.
