Information
Genuine Porsche Clutch Release Bearing Guide Tube / Guide Sleeve.
also known as a guide sleeve - designed to support and precisely align the clutch release (throw-out) bearing on selected Porsche manual-transmission vehicles. It is a factory-engineered internal transmission component used in conjunction with the clutch system to ensure smooth actuation and long-term reliability.
Fits:
Porsche 986 Boxster S 3.2L 2000 - 2004
Porsche 996 C2 / C4 / C4S 1998 - 2005
Porsche 997.1 C2 / C2S / C4 / C4S 2005 - 2008
Porsche 997.2 C2 / C2S / C4 / C4S 2009 - 2012
Porsche 991.1 Carrera 2012 - 2016
Diagram ref no 7.
The clutch release bearing guide tube provides a stable, low-friction pathway for the clutch release bearing to travel during clutch engagement and disengagement. It keeps the bearing aligned with the input shaft and clutch pressure plate fingers, ensuring smooth operation and minimising wear on both the bearing and surrounding components.
The clutch release bearing guide tube acts as a critical alignment and wear surface for the bearing assembly. Over time, the original guide can become scored, worn, or deformed - leading to clutch chatter, rough pedal feel, premature bearing wear, or mismatch between the bearing and clutch pressure plate. Replacing it with a Genuine Porsche OE guide tube restores correct bearing alignment, protects surrounding drivetrain components, and helps maintain consistent clutch operation and durability.
When to replace:
• During clutch replacement or transmission removal
• Original guide tube shows wear, scoring, corrosion, or distortion
• Clutch release bearing exhibits uneven wear or binding
• Transmission input shaft or bellhousing has been serviced
• As preventative maintenance during a drivetrain overhaul

Information
Clutch Release Bearing Guide Tube / Shaft (Guide Sleeve)
OE Match clutch release bearing guide tube (also referred to as a guide sleeve or clutch release bearing shaft) is designed to replicate the original Porsche factory component that guides and supports the clutch release (throw-out) bearing within the transmission assembly.
Fits:
Porsche 986 Boxster S 3.2L 2000 - 2004
Porsche 996 C2 / C4 / C4S 1998 - 2005
Porsche 997.1 C2 / C2S / C4 / C4S 2005 - 2008
Porsche 997.2 C2 / C2S / C4 / C4S 2009 - 2012
Porsche 991.1 Carrera 2012 -2016
Diagram ref no 7.
The clutch release bearing guide tube provides a precise sliding surface and alignment path for the clutch release (throw-out) bearing. By guiding the bearing smoothly along the transmission input shaft, it enables reliable clutch actuation, reduces wear on mating surfaces, and helps maintain consistent clutch pedal feel and engagement.
Function:
Installed inside the manual transmission bellhousing, this guide tube:
• Guides and supports the clutch release bearing along the input shaft
• Ensures proper alignment of clutch actuation components
• Reduces friction and wear on the bearing and shaft surface
• Provides stable operation across repeated clutch engagements
Proper guide tube performance is essential for reliable clutch engagement, reduced noise, and long-term drivetrain durability.
The clutch release bearing guide tube is a wear surface and alignment component that operates under repeated mechanical load each time the clutch is used. Over time, the original guide may wear, score, or distort, leading to misalignment, increased bearing wear, clutch chatter, or engagement issues. Replacing a worn tube with a high-quality OE Match guide tube restores proper bearing travel and alignment, helping preserve clutch life and ensuring smooth gear shifts.
When to replace:
• During clutch replacement or transmission removal
• When the original guide tube shows wear, scoring, or deformation
• If the clutch release bearing shows uneven wear or binding
• After transmission servicing or input-shaft work
• Preventive refresh during high-mileage drivetrain overhaul
