Manufactured by Brembo, one of the world's leading original equipment brake manufacturers, these rear brake pads are produced using advanced friction compounds that offer consistent braking performance, reduced brake noise and excellent compatibility with Porsche brake discs and electronic braking systems.
What Do the Rear Brake Pads Do?
Rear brake pads are a critical component of your Porsche's braking system. When hydraulic pressure is applied, the brake pads clamp against the rear brake discs, generating the friction needed to slow and safely stop the vehicle.
Their primary functions include:
- Providing controlled rear braking performance.
- Maintaining balanced braking between the front and rear axles.
- Supporting Porsche ABS, PSM and traction control systems.
- Delivering smooth, progressive pedal feel.
- Providing reliable stopping power in all driving conditions.
- Helping maximise braking stability during cornering and emergency braking.
Although the front brakes provide the majority of the stopping force, the rear brake pads play an essential role in maintaining vehicle balance and overall braking efficiency.
Why Do Rear Brake Pads Wear Out?
Brake pads are designed as consumable service components and
gradually wear during normal use. Common causes include:
- Continuous friction against the brake discs.
- High temperatures generated during braking.
- Frequent urban stop-start driving.
- Spirited road driving. Track day use.
- Natural wear of the friction material.
- Brake disc wear affecting pad contact.
- High mileage.
As the friction material becomes thinner, braking efficiency gradually decreases and replacement becomes necessary.
When Should the Rear Brake Pads Be Replaced?
Replacement is recommended whenever:
- The rear brake pad warning light is illuminated.
- Pad friction material reaches the manufacturer's minimum thickness.
- Braking performance becomes less responsive.
- Squealing or grinding noises develop.
- Uneven brake pad wear is observed.
- Rear brake discs are being replaced.
- During scheduled brake servicing.
For the best braking performance, Porsche specialists recommend replacing the brake pad wear sensors whenever new brake pads are fitted and inspecting the brake discs for wear or damage.
Brembo Quality You Can Trust
The Brembo Rear Brake Pad Set offers:
- Genuine Brembo premium friction material.
- OE-quality replacement performance.
- Excellent stopping power.
- Progressive and responsive pedal feel.
- Low-noise braking characteristics.
- Reduced brake dust formulation.
- Excellent resistance to brake fade.
- Long service life.
- Precision-engineered fitment.
