The air filter cleans the air entering the carburettors before it reaches the engine. It helps trap dust, dirt, and airborne debris, reducing the risk of contamination entering the combustion chambers. Correct air filtration supports smooth running, carburettor performance, and long-term engine protection.
Functions
• Filters intake air before it enters the Solex carburettors
• Helps protect the engine from dust, dirt, and debris
• Supports correct airflow to the carburettors
• Helps maintain smooth idle and consistent engine performance
• Replaces dirty, blocked, damaged, or missing original air filters
• Supports reliable fuel and air mixture control
• OE Match replacement for service, maintenance, and restoration.
Why Replace This Part?
Air filters become dirty, clogged, oil-contaminated, or damaged over time. A blocked or deteriorated air filter can restrict airflow, affect carburettor performance, reduce engine response, increase fuel consumption, or allow harmful particles into the engine. Replacing the air filter helps restore clean airflow and supports reliable engine operation.
When to Replace This Part
• The air filter is dirty, blocked, damaged, or missing
• Engine airflow appears restricted
• The engine has poor idle, hesitation, or reduced response
• Carburettor tuning or service is being carried out
• The filter element is contaminated with oil, fuel, or debris
• The vehicle is undergoing routine maintenance
• The car is being restored to an OE-style engine bay appearance.
Where it fits on the car
This air filter fits within the intake air filter assembly for Solex carburettor-equipped Porsche 356 and 912 models. It is part of the carburettor intake system and should be installed according to the factory air cleaner layout.
