The most significant change for the 2014 970.2 Panamera S was under the hood, where a twin-turbo 3.0ltr V6 engine replaced the older 4.8ltr naturally aspirated unit. This new engine provided an additional 20hp and improved fuel efficiency. Unlike its predecessor, the updated Panamera S was available exclusively with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (PDK).
A major improvement for the 970.2 Panamera S was the inclusion of standard bi-xenon headlights with the option for full LED lamps. The daytime running lights were equipped with light-emitting diodes as standard. The revised front and rear bumpers gave the car a more aggressive appearance, with larger side scoops in the apron inspired by the 911 range. A wider rear windscreen was also added to the new tailgate design.
The revised model featured new front and rear bumpers and introduced significant technical changes. A long-wheelbase version, extending an extra 150 mm, was available for selected left-hand drive markets. The long-wheelbase option, known as the Exclusive was exclusively available on the 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S models.
