Porsche unveiled the second generation Panamera for the 2017 model year, marking a significant overhaul. The redesign addressed previous design issues, resulting in a wider, lower, and sleeker appearance that eliminated the hunchback look. Alongside the exterior enhancements, the interior underwent a complete reimagination, featuring touch-capacitive surfaces and expansive display screens.
Under the bonnet, the 971.1 Panamera 4 was equipped with a 3.0ltr turbocharged V6 engine, delivering 325 bhp at 5400 rpm and 332 ft lbs of torque at 1800 rpm. This powertrain propelled the entry-level Panamera from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds, with a commendable top speed of 163 mph.
Inside the cabin, the emphasis on technology was evident, with a prominent 12.3″ touch-screen infotainment unit integrated into the dashboard. However, the absence of Android Auto connectivity was notable, as Porsche opted to exclusively support Apple CarPlay. To access the system, Android users had to utilize a dedicated Porsche app. Additionally, two 7″ TFT screens flanked the main display, offering various car information and navigation functions.
Porsche introduced the "Executive" models. These variants set new standards for space, ambience, and ride comfort. The wheelbase and passenger compartment were extended by 15cm, enhancing rear seat comfort significantly, as the body was extended behind the B-pillar. This design allowed for larger doors for easier entry and provided more legroom in front of the two rear bucket seats.
