In 2013, Porsche introduced the Cayenne Diesel S Turbo 4.1, offering 281 kW. This model is equipped with the Audi 4.2 V8 TDI engine.
The Cayenne S Diesel earns its "S" designation thanks to a twin-turbocharged 4.2-liter diesel V-8 engine, delivering an impressive 382 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. In contrast, the non-S Cayenne Diesel features a 3.0-liter V-6 engine producing a comparatively modest 240 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Interestingly, the S Diesel comes standard with Porsche's engine stop-start system, a fuel-saving feature not available on the standard Cayenne Diesel in the U.S.
Porsche maintained the same model lineup for the second-generation Cayenne, with the base Cayenne and Cayenne S leading sales, alongside the premium Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S variants. The Cayenne GTS returned, offering the ideal blend of sportiness and enjoyment. However, the standout feature of this new generation was the world debut of the Cayenne S Hybrid, marking the introduction of the first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment.
