991.2 Carrera 2S 3.0L (420 Bhp) 2016-19

The 991.2 generation 911 Carrera S replaces its predecessor, the 991.1 Carrera S, in a departure from Porsche's usual mid-cycle refresh simplicity. Now equipped with a more environmentally friendly 3.0ltr twin-turbo flat-six engine, performance and fuel efficiency are enhanced. With power increased to 414 hp at 6500 rpm and torque boosted to 368 ft-lbs at 1700 rpm, the 991.2 Carrera S delivers a substantial improvement over its predecessor. Both the base Carrera and Carrera S share the same 3.0ltr displacement, but the Carrera S benefits from additional horsepower and torque due to different turbochargers, exhaust system, and engine management.

The new engine generates significantly increased torque, available from as low as 1,700 rpm up to 5,000 rpm, ensuring strong acceleration throughout the rev range. Notably, the turbochargers' smaller size allows for quick spooling and pressure buildup, altering the driving experience. While the Carrera S loses some of its raw, high-revving character, the immediate torque delivery and refined exhaust note contribute to an engaging driving experience. The introduction of Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management (PASM) as standard across the range further enhances handling and comfort, with the option for rear-axle steering for improved maneuverability.

With the Sport Chrono Package, the 991.2 Carrera S can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds (PDK), quicker than its predecessor and even rivaling the 997 Porsche 911 Turbo. Top speed is now 191 mph, with the quarter-mile completed in 11.8 seconds. Externally, subtle updates to the front and rear bumpers, door handles, and air intakes distinguish the new model, along with distinct exhaust vents and redesigned tail-lights.

Inside, a new seven-inch touchscreen sat-nav system with online navigation and gesture control offers enhanced connectivity. Apple CarPlay integration provides real-time traffic information and connected services, while smartphone apps further improve usability. Combined with small rear seats and ample front trunk space, the 991.2 Carrera S offers a compelling blend of performance and practicality.
