Kit Contents
This complete rear brake service package includes:
- 2 x Zimmermann Coat Z Rear Brake Discs
- 1 x ABS Rear Brake Pad Set
- 2 x Rear Brake Pad Warning Wires
Everything required to complete a professional rear brake service.
What Do the Components Do?
Zimmermann Coat Z Rear Brake Discs
The rear brake discs provide the precision-machined friction surface that the brake pads clamp against during braking. Zimmermann Coat Z brake discs feature a durable anti-corrosion coating that protects the non-friction surfaces from rust while maintaining the clean appearance of the braking system behind open alloy wheels. Manufactured to OE specifications, they offer excellent heat dissipation, smooth braking performance and outstanding durability.
ABS Rear Brake Pad Set
ABS rear brake pads are manufactured using premium friction materials to provide dependable stopping power, smooth pedal feel and low-noise operation. Designed to work seamlessly with Zimmermann brake discs, they deliver consistent braking performance while minimising wear and ensuring excellent compatibility with the original Porsche braking system.
Rear Brake Pad Warning Wires
The rear brake pad warning wires monitor the remaining brake
pad thickness. When the friction material reaches its minimum safe limit, the
sensor activates the dashboard brake warning light, allowing the pads to be
replaced before excessive wear damages the brake discs.
Together, these premium components deliver the precise braking control, safety and reliability expected from the Porsche 992.2 Carrera.
Why Do Brake Components Wear Out?
Brake discs, brake pads and warning sensors are all
consumable service components that naturally wear during normal use. Common
causes include:
- Continuous friction between brake pads and discs.
- High temperatures generated during braking.
- Repeated braking during everyday driving.
- Natural reduction in brake disc thickness.
- Brake pad friction material wearing away.
- Heat cycling causing disc distortion or pad glazing.
- Surface corrosion during prolonged periods of inactivity.
- Activation of brake pad warning sensors when pad wear limits are reached.
Driving style, mileage and operating conditions all affect brake component lifespan.
Why Replace the Complete Kit?
Replacing the complete brake package provides several
important benefits:
- Restores factory braking performance.
- Ensures correct bedding-in between new brake discs and pads.
- Eliminates uneven wear between old and new components.
- Replaces worn brake pad warning sensors.
- Improves brake pedal feel and braking consistency.
- Reduces the risk of vibration, noise and premature wear.
- Maximises the lifespan of all braking components.
- Reduces future labour costs by replacing every service item together.
Replacing only individual components can compromise braking performance and shorten the life of newly fitted parts.
When Should the Kit Be Replaced?
A complete rear brake service is recommended if you notice:
- Rear brake warning light illuminated.
- Brake discs below the manufacturer's minimum thickness.
- Heavy scoring or grooves on the braking surface.
- Brake vibration or pulsation.
- Squealing or grinding noises.
- Reduced braking performance.
- Heat cracks or excessive corrosion.
- During routine scheduled brake servicing.
For optimum safety and performance, Porsche specialists recommend replacing brake discs, brake pads and warning wires together.
