Manufactured to OE specifications for fit, strength and durability, the lock plate is designed to prevent movement or loosening of the ball joint retaining hardware under the constant loads and vibrations experienced during vehicle operation. It is an essential component when replacing suspension parts, carrying out front-end repairs or restoring factory-correct assembly.
What This Product Does:
- Secures and locks the front wishbone ball joint retaining hardware.
- Prevents loosening caused by vibration and suspension movement.
- Maintains correct ball joint positioning within the suspension assembly.
- Supports proper suspension geometry and alignment.
- Helps ensure safe operation of the steering and suspension systems.
- Contributes to the long-term reliability of front suspension components.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Loose ball joint retaining hardware.
- Unwanted movement within the suspension assembly.
- Knocking or clunking noises from the front suspension.
- Difficulty maintaining correct wheel alignment.
- Increased wear on ball joints and suspension components.
- Visible corrosion, bending or damage to the lock plate.
- Reduced security of suspension fasteners.
- Potential suspension safety concerns if retaining hardware loosens.
Why Replacement Matters:
- Lock plates are designed to provide a secondary level of security for critical suspension fasteners. Over time, corrosion, fatigue, improper installation or damage during servicing can reduce their effectiveness. Reusing worn or distorted locking components may compromise their ability to properly secure suspension hardware.
- A damaged or missing lock plate can allow retaining fasteners to gradually loosen, increasing the risk of suspension component movement and accelerated wear. In severe cases, insufficient retention of critical steering and suspension parts can affect vehicle handling and safety.
- Replacing worn or damaged lock plates helps maintain correct suspension assembly integrity, ensures secure fastening of ball joint components and supports safe, predictable vehicle handling. An OE Match replacement restores factory-style fitment and provides dependable long-term security for the front suspension system.

Lower Front ball joint / Swivel joint
Lower Ball Joint is a direct-fit replacement for the original lower front ball joint used in Porsche Macan 95B / 95B.2 models. This joint (also known as a swivel joint) connects the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, allowing pivoting motion while handling load. It is commonly cross-referenced to 4G0407689C.
Fits:
Porsche 95B Macan 2014 - 2018
Porsche Macan II 2019>>
Length: 108 mm

Fitment & Function:
• Where it fits: Lower front suspension, connecting control arm to steering knuckle
• Function: Enables steering articulation; handles vertical, lateral, and longitudinal load transfer while maintaining wheel alignment
The Joint for Porsche 95B Macan and Macan II (product code PAB407689) is a vital suspension component that plays a key role in connecting the steering knuckle to the control arm. This high-quality ball joint ensures smooth movement and stability in the vehicle's suspension system, contributing to responsive handling and improved ride comfort. Engineered for durability and performance, it helps absorb shocks and reduce wear on other suspension parts, making it an essential replacement part for maintaining your Porsche Macan's driving dynamics and safety.
When ball joints wear, internal clearances increase, leading to steering vibration, knocking noise, poor alignment retention, and uneven tire wear.
Replace the joint when you detect:
• Play or looseness in the wheel under load
• Clunking sound when hitting bumps Uneven front tire wear
• During control arm replacement, suspension overhauls, or alignment issues
Using a high-precision OE Match PAB407689 ensures restored steering stability and safety, with re-established tight tolerances and correct suspension geometry.
