Upper Steering Column Switch Housing, Black Lacquered.
The Genuine Porsche Upper Steering Column Switch Housing 99655227301A03 is the original upper trim cover fitted around the steering-column switch assembly on selected Porsche 986 Boxster and 996-generation 911 models.
Fits:
Diagram Ref No 6
Finished in Porsche A03 lacquered black, the housing forms the upper section of the steering-column shroud immediately behind the steering wheel.
Its purpose is primarily to enclose and protect the steering-column switch area while providing the clean factory-finished appearance around the indicator, wiper, cruise-control and onboard-computer stalks where fitted.
Unlike the steering-column switch assembly itself, this component is not an electrical switch and does not control the indicators, wipers or cruise-control system. It is the upper protective and cosmetic housing surrounding those components.
Over time, the original plastic housing can become scratched, cracked, faded or damaged during steering-column, ignition-switch or stalk repairs. Mounting points can also break, allowing the cover to become loose or rattle.
Replacing a damaged housing helps restore the original interior appearance, correctly encloses the steering-column switch assembly and eliminates looseness caused by damaged trim.
What This Product Does:
The upper steering-column switch housing surrounds the upper portion of the column-switch assembly.
Its main functions are to:
- Cover the steering-column switch mechanism.
- Protect internal wiring and electrical connections.
- Provide a finished appearance behind the steering wheel.
- Surround the indicator and wiper stalk openings.
- Work together with the lower steering-column housing.
- Help keep dirt and debris away from the switch assembly.
- Conceal the steering-column hardware and wiring.
- Maintain the original Porsche interior appearance.
- Help prevent loose trim from rattling around the steering column.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Common signs include:
- Visible cracks.
- Scratched lacquered finish.
- Faded or discoloured surface.
- Broken mounting tabs.
- Loose upper cover.
- Rattling around the steering column.
- Gaps between the upper and lower housings.
- Housing moving when touched.
- Trim sitting unevenly.

Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing a damaged upper switch housing helps restore:
- Correct steering-column appearance.
- Secure trim fitment.
- Proper enclosure of the switch assembly.
- Protection for wiring and switch components.
- Correct clearance around control stalks.
- Reduced interior rattles.
- Proper alignment with the lower housing.
- Original Porsche interior presentation.
