Information
Track rod inner joint
This OE Match track rod inner joint is a direct replacement for the original Porsche steering component fitted to Porsche 986 Boxster and 996 Carrera, Turbo, GT2, and GT3 models. The track rod inner joint transfers steering movement from the steering rack to the front wheels while allowing suspension articulation. It helps maintain precise steering response, stable handling, and accurate wheel alignment.
Sold individually, 2 required per vehicle
Fits:
Porsche 986 Boxster 1997 - 2005
Porsche 996 Carrera / Carrera 4 / Carrera 4S 1998 - 2005
Porsche 996 Turbo / GT2 / GT3 2000 - 2005
Diagram Ref No 6.
Installed between the steering rack and outer track rod end, the inner joint transfers steering input from the rack assembly to the front wheels. It allows controlled articulation during steering and suspension movement while maintaining precise wheel alignment and steering response. Proper operation of the inner tie rod joint is essential for stable handling, steering accuracy, and safe vehicle control.
Function
• Connects steering rack to outer track rod end
• Transfers steering input to front wheels
• Maintains accurate steering and wheel alignment
• Allows controlled steering and suspension articulation
• Supports stable handling and steering precision
Steering joints are constantly subjected to load, vibration, and suspension movement. Over time, internal wear within the ball joint can create steering looseness, knocking noises, uneven tyre wear, or poor steering response. Replacing worn track rod inner joints restores safe and accurate steering performance while protecting steering and suspension components from additional wear.
When to replace
• Steering play or vague steering feel
• Knocking or clunking noises from front suspension
• Uneven tyre wear or alignment issues
• MOT or inspection failure due to steering joint wear
• During steering rack or suspension servicing

Manufactured to OE specifications for fit, strength and durability, the track rod end features a precision ball joint assembly designed to provide smooth steering operation, accurate wheel control and long service life. It is an essential replacement component for maintaining steering precision, vehicle stability and safe handling characteristics.
What This Product Does:
- Connects the steering rack and track rod to the steering knuckle.
- Transfers steering input from the steering system to the wheels.
- Allows controlled articulation as the suspension moves.
- Maintains accurate wheel alignment and steering geometry.
- Supports stable handling and responsive steering performance.
- Helps ensure safe vehicle control under all driving conditions.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Excessive play or looseness in the steering.
- Knocking or clunking noises from the front suspension.
- Vibration felt through the steering wheel.
- Uneven or accelerated tyre wear.
- Vehicle wandering or pulling while driving.
- Reduced steering precision and responsiveness.
- Poor wheel alignment.
- Visible damage or deterioration of the dust boot.
- Excessive movement in the ball joint during inspection.
Why Replacement Matters:
- Track rod ends are subjected to constant steering movement, road impacts, vibration, moisture and contamination. Over time, the internal ball joint can wear, while protective dust boots may crack or split, allowing dirt and water to enter the joint.
- A worn track rod end can significantly affect steering accuracy, wheel alignment and vehicle handling. If left unresolved, excessive play can increase tyre wear, compromise vehicle stability and create a serious safety risk. In extreme cases, complete joint failure can result in a loss of steering control.
- Replacing a worn track rod end restores precise steering response, maintains correct alignment and helps ensure safe and predictable vehicle handling. An OE Match replacement provides factory-style fitment, reliable performance and long-term durability, making it an essential component for suspension and steering system maintenance.

Information
Track rod inner joint.
The genuine Porsche part number 91434705702 Inner Tie Rod Joint / Bush is the factory-specified component that threads into the steering rack and connects to the outer tie rod in classic Porsche 911, 912, and 914 models. As a precision OEM part, it maintains exact geometry and alignment to ensure reliable and accurate steering response.
Sold each, two units are required per vehicle.
Fits:
Porsche 911 1965 - 1989 (Not Turbo)
Porsche 914 1970 - 1976
The steering rack controls the front wheels by means of two track rods, terminated by replaceable joints - the "Track Rod Ends", attached to the swivel hubs. These will eventually wear, leading to problems with steering and handling, as well as being a failure point on the UK MOT and presumably on the statutory inspections in other countries.

Designed for direct installation, the upgrade helps optimise steering response, enhances front-end stability and improves overall handling, making it ideal for road use, fast road driving, lowered vehicles and performance-focused restorations.
What This Product Does:
- Restores precise steering response and accuracy.
- Corrects steering geometry to reduce bump steer.
- Minimises unwanted steering input during suspension movement.
- Improves front-end stability and vehicle control.
- Reduces free play within the steering linkage.
- Helps maintain correct wheel alignment.
- Improves steering feel during cornering and braking.
- Forms an essential part of the vehicle's steering and front suspension system.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Steering wheel movement over bumps.
- Vehicle wandering or tramlining.
- Excessive play in the steering.
- Uneven or accelerated front tyre wear.
- Knocking or clunking noises from the steering system.
- Poor steering precision.
- Instability during hard braking or cornering.
- Vague steering feel at higher speeds.
- Uneven steering response after lowering the suspension.
- MOT or vehicle inspection failure due to worn steering components.
Why Replacement Matters:
- The track rods and steering linkage are subjected to continual loading from steering inputs, braking forces and suspension movement. Over time, wear in the joints or incorrect steering geometry—particularly on lowered vehicles—can result in excessive bump steer, reducing steering precision and overall vehicle stability.
- Excessive bump steer causes the wheels to change direction as the suspension moves, making the vehicle less predictable over uneven road surfaces. Worn track rods can also accelerate tyre wear, affect wheel alignment and place additional strain on other steering and suspension components.
- Replacing worn steering components with the OE Match Track Rod and Bump Steer Kit Upgrade restores accurate steering geometry, improves handling and reduces unwanted steering movement. Manufactured from premium-quality materials with OE-style fitment and upgraded performance characteristics, TIERODKIT02 provides improved steering confidence, enhanced driving comfort and long-lasting reliability for your Porsche.
