Information
Suspension strut mounting, FRONT.
Front suspension strut mount / bearing support for early Porsche 924, 924S and 944 models. This component mounts between the shock absorber and chassis body structure at the top of the front strut and provides pivotal support and smooth rotation of the strut assembly, while also cushioning vibration and absorbing load forces.
Sold each, 2 required per vehicle.
Fits:
Porsche 924 1976 - 1985
Porsche 924S 1986 - 1988
Porsche 944 1982 - 1988
Diagram ref no 10
Manufactured to OE standards, it replicates the factory arrangement of rubber bonded bearing with correct internal race, outer shell and mounting surfaces. It restores proper strut behaviour, correct top mount geometry, quiet ride, and ensures long-term durability under road loads.
• Position on Vehicle: Front suspension — strut top mount bearing (front shock absorber top)
• Part Cross-References / Alternatives: OE number 944 343 071 01, supersedes 944 343 071 00.
• Material & Construction: Rubber-bonded steel bearing and mount assembly, designed for vertical load, lateral motion and rotational movement of the strut; built to OE mount geometry to maintain alignment and suppress noise.
The strut mount bearing is a critical link in the front suspension system - it supports the shock absorber, handles steering loads, and ensures smooth motion of the strut top during articulation. If the mount is worn or the bearing seized, you may experience:
• Excessive play or noise from the front suspension top area
• Steering vibration or oscillation during turning
• Misalignment of the strut assembly leading to uneven tyre wear
• Reduced ride comfort and increased road harshness
Replacing with this correctly mount restores original mount geometry, eliminates play or noise and supports accurate alignment and handling.
When and why to replace:
• The shock absorber top mount is creaking, knocking or making noise when steering or hitting bumps
• Steering feels vague, the front feels loose or there is abnormal tyre wear
• You are doing a front suspension rebuild or installing new shocks and want all mount components refreshed
• The top mount rubber appears cracked, collapsed or the bearing shows rust / seizing
