Information
Steering rack inner tie rod
The Porsche Genuine OE Inner Tie Rod / Steering Rack End (Part No. PAB423810A) is an original factory steering linkage component designed for Porsche Cayenne 9YA.1 and 9YA.2 (E3) models. It is the inner section of the tie rod assembly, connecting directly to the steering rack and working together with the outer tie rod end to transmit steering input to the wheels.
Sold individually, Fits left and right side (inner position).
Fits:
Porsche 9YA.1 (E3) Cayenne 2018 - 2023
Porsche 9YA.2 (E3 II) Cayenne 2024 >>
Diagram ref no 2
The inner tie rod transfers movement from the steering rack and pinion system to the outer tie rod and wheel hub, enabling accurate steering control.
As part of the steering linkage, it ensures precise wheel direction, stability, and alignment, while allowing articulation as the suspension moves.
Functions & Technical Role
• Steering transmission: Transfers movement from steering rack to wheels
• Alignment control: Maintains correct tracking and geometry
• Articulation: Works with ball joints for smooth suspension movement
• Stability support: Ensures responsive and predictable steering
• OEM precision: Engineered to Porsche tolerances for durability and performance
Tie rods are critical components linking the steering system to the wheel spindle, and wear can directly affect handling and tyre wear.
Fitment / Position on car:
• Fitting position: Front axle
• Location: Inner steering linkage (between steering rack and outer tie rod)
Inner tie rods are subject to constant load, vibration, and steering movement. Over time, wear can lead to:
• Loose or vague steering feel
• Uneven tyre wear
• Knocking or play in steering
• Poor alignment and handling
Replacing with a genuine Porsche OE rack end restores steering precision, improves safety, and ensures long-term reliability.

Reconditioned steering rack, for LHD cars (Left-hand drive)
Fits:
Porsche 993 Carrera / Turbo (not RS)
Left Hand Drive Cars (like Europe)
We strongly recommend replacing the power steering pump at the same time as the steering rack. Swarf (metal particles) in the power steering system can circulate and cause damage to both components. If you choose to replace only the steering rack and, upon return of your exchange unit, we discover that the rack bar is scored or contaminated with swarf, this indicates that debris is present in the system. In such cases, we advise replacing the pump as well.
Please note: if we have advised that there is swarf in the system and you choose not to replace both components, any future warranty claims related to this issue will not be valid.
Please note: This is sold on an exchange basis, A surcharge will be held and then refunded when the old one is returned.
Please note good reconditioned steering racks are becoming very hard for us to supply and this is simply because the core exchange units are not being returned to us. If you fail to return the core unit to us within 30 days we reserve the right to keep your full deposit paid.
All reconditioned racks come with 1 Year or 12,000 miles warranty!!
The most common power steering faults are:
- Leaking power steering
- Torn Gators
- Hard to steering when idling
- Hard to steering one-way
- Steering-Wheel not self-centering
- Noise when Idling
- Noise when steering
- Judders when steering
- Loss of all power in steering
- Semi-Loss of power in steering
- Electric steering problems
Above are just some of the problems our customers are faced with on a day-to-day basis with their power steering units. We can replace your old unit with a Reconditioned unit. If we don't have a replacement available, we can take in your own unit and recondition it for you. Where a new unit can cost £100's we can recondition/supply reconditioned units at a fraction of this price!
