Available in stainless steel the downpipe weighs approximately 9kg less than the factory component while retaining a straightforward bolt-on installation with no cutting or welding required.
Designed to fit all worldwide Porsche 911 992.2 Carrera GTS models from 2025 onwards.
What Does the Downpipe Do?
The downpipe carries hot exhaust gases away from the engine and into the remaining exhaust system.
The original component incorporates emissions-control hardware that creates a restriction within the exhaust path. The 9M decatted design removes this restriction, allowing exhaust gases to flow more freely through the system.
The result is a more performance-focused exhaust configuration with a stronger, more natural flat-six exhaust note.
Why Upgrade?
For owners looking for a more engaging exhaust sound and reduced vehicle weight, the 9M downpipe provides several advantages over the factory component.
The less restrictive design allows the engine to expel exhaust gases more freely, while removing approximately 9kg compared with the factory assembly provides a worthwhile weight saving.
The system has also been developed to deliver a stronger flat-six exhaust note without introducing unwanted drone or poor resonance.
Key benefits include:
- Approximately 9kg lighter than the factory component
- Less restrictive decatted exhaust path
- Improved exhaust gas flow
- More pronounced flat-six exhaust sound
- Designed to avoid unwanted drone and poor resonance
- Heat-shielded construction
- Stainless steel
- Direct bolt-on installation
- No cutting or welding required
Heat-Shielded Construction
Exhaust downpipes operate at extremely high temperatures, particularly during sustained performance driving.
The heat-shielded construction helps manage radiant exhaust heat around the downpipe and surrounding components, making thermal management an important part of the design rather than simply reducing restriction.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel provides excellent durability, corrosion resistance and long-term performance, making it an excellent choice for both road and performance use.
Bolt-On Installation
The downpipe has been engineered as a bolt-on replacement for the factory component.
No cutting or welding is required, making installation cleaner and avoiding permanent modification of the exhaust system during fitment.
Important Road Use Information
This is a decatted performance component and removes emissions-control equipment from the exhaust system. As a result, it may not comply with road vehicle emissions regulations, inspection requirements or type approval rules in some countries.
Customers should check local regulations before installation. It may be intended for motorsport, competition or other permitted off-road applications where local legislation requires catalytic converters to remain fitted for road use.
Downpipe & Performance Exhaust Upgrades
Upgrading the downpipe is an effective way to reduce exhaust restriction, increase the character of the flat-six exhaust note and remove weight from the Porsche 911 992.2 Carrera GTS.
The 9M decatted downpipe combines a freer-flowing exhaust path with heat-shielded construction and a substantial reduction in weight compared with the original component. With stainless steel versions available, owners can choose between a durable performance upgrade or a more weight-focused premium solution.
For Porsche 992.2 Carrera GTS owners looking for a more engaging exhaust experience, reduced weight and straightforward bolt-on installation, the 9M downpipe provides a purpose-designed upgrade without requiring cutting or welding.

Approximately 5kg lighter than the factory part, it combines improved exhaust flow with reduced weight and a more pronounced flat-six exhaust note. The system is designed to operate without triggering an engine management light, with no OBD blocker required.
Available in stainless steel and designed as a direct bolt-on installation with no cutting or welding required.
Fits all Porsche 911 992.2 Carrera GTS models from 2025 onwards worldwide.
What Does the Sports Catted Downpipe Do?
The downpipe carries hot exhaust gases away from the engine and into the remainder of the exhaust system.
Factory downpipes must balance emissions control, refinement and production requirements, which can restrict exhaust flow. The 9M sports catted design uses a more performance-focused exhaust path while retaining catalytic converter functionality.
This helps improve exhaust flow while providing a more engaging exhaust note than the standard system.
Why Upgrade?
The 9M Sports Catted Downpipe is designed for owners who want improved exhaust sound, reduced weight and freer exhaust flow without moving to a fully decatted setup.
Compared with the factory component, it offers an approximate 5kg weight saving while retaining a sports catalyst. The exhaust note is also enhanced to bring out more of the flat-six character without introducing unwanted drone or poor resonance.
Another important advantage is compatibility with the vehicle's engine management system. The downpipe is designed to operate without illuminating the engine management light, meaning an additional OBD blocker is not required.
Sports Catalyst Design
Unlike the 9M decatted version, this downpipe retains a sports catalytic converter.
This provides a useful middle ground for owners looking for a freer-flowing performance exhaust while retaining catalytic exhaust treatment.
Heat-Shielded Construction
Downpipes operate at extremely high temperatures, making thermal management particularly important in the tightly packaged engine bay of a modern Porsche 911.
The integrated heat shielding helps control radiant heat around the exhaust system and nearby components while maintaining the benefits of the performance downpipe design.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel provides excellent durability, corrosion resistance and long-term performance, making it well suited to regular road and performance use.
Direct Bolt-On Installation
The downpipe is engineered as a direct bolt-on replacement for the original component.
No cutting or welding is required, simplifying installation and avoiding the fabrication work associated with universal or modified exhaust components.
Important Road Use Information
Although this version retains a sports catalytic converter, emissions and road-use regulations vary between countries and regions. Fitment of an aftermarket sports catalyst does not automatically guarantee compliance with local emissions testing, type approval or road vehicle regulations.
Customers should confirm local requirements before installation.
Sports Cat Downpipes & Exhaust Upgrades
A sports catted downpipe provides an effective compromise for Porsche 992.2 Carrera GTS owners looking for improved exhaust flow and a more engaging flat-six sound while retaining a catalytic converter.
The 9M system combines a sports catalyst with heat-shielded construction, direct bolt-on installation and an approximate 5kg weight reduction compared with the factory component.
With stainless steel and titanium options available, it is an ideal upgrade for owners looking to improve the sound and performance-focused character of their Porsche 911 992.2 Carrera GTS without choosing a fully decatted exhaust configuration.

The Fabspeed Porsche 992.2 Carrera GTS Sport Cat is a high-flow catalytic-converter upgrade developed specifically for the 2025+ Porsche 992.2 Carrera GTS T-Hybrid.
Fits:
- Porsche 992.2 Carrera 2 GTS 3.6L 2024>>
- Porsche 992.2 Carrera 4 GTS 3.6L 2024>>
Designed as a direct bolt-on replacement for the restrictive factory catalyst arrangement, the Fabspeed Sport Cat improves exhaust-gas flow while retaining catalytic exhaust treatment.
The system is engineered to increase performance, reduce weight and produce a stronger, more motorsport-inspired flat-six exhaust note without converting the vehicle to an uncatalysed exhaust setup.
Fabspeed currently publishes:
- +50 horsepower
- +40 lb-ft torque
- 12 lb weight reduction
For a mechanically healthy vehicle, this product is primarily a performance, sound and weight-reduction upgrade rather than a routine maintenance replacement.
What This Product Does:
The catalytic converter sits in the exhaust stream and treats harmful exhaust gases before they leave the vehicle.
A factory catalyst must balance:
- Emissions control
- Noise requirements
- Durability
- Packaging
- Exhaust flow
The Fabspeed Sport Cat is designed to retain catalytic exhaust treatment while allowing gases to move more freely through the exhaust system.
Its intended benefits include:
- Increased exhaust flow
- Reduced exhaust restriction
- Increased horsepower
- Increased torque
- Reduced exhaust-system weight
- More aggressive exhaust sound
- Improved performance character
- Retained catalytic exhaust treatment
- Direct bolt-on fitment
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Catalytic converters operate at extremely high temperatures and can deteriorate through age, contamination, impact or engine-related problems.
Possible symptoms include:
- Check Engine Light
- Catalyst-efficiency fault codes
- Reduced engine performance
- Poor high-RPM response
- Increased exhaust restriction
- Internal rattling
- Metallic noises from the catalyst
- Unusually high exhaust temperatures
- Sulphur-like exhaust smell
- Poor throttle response
- Exhaust flow feeling restricted
- Discolouration caused by excessive heat
- Cracks in the catalyst housing or welds
- Exhaust leakage around joints or flanges
A diagnostic inspection should be carried out before replacing a catalyst because oxygen-sensor, ignition, fuelling or engine-management faults can produce similar symptoms.
Why Replacement Matters:
A genuinely failed or restricted catalytic converter can affect:
- Engine performance
- Exhaust flow
- Exhaust temperatures
- Emissions performance
- Turbocharger operating conditions
- Engine-management operation
A severely damaged catalyst can create enough restriction to interfere with normal engine breathing.
Replacing a failed catalyst restores a clear exhaust path and proper catalytic treatment.
Where the factory catalyst is healthy, however, fitting the Fabspeed Sport Cat is primarily a performance upgrade rather than a necessary repair.
NOTE: In the United Kingdom, sports catalytic converters and bypass pipes do not have type approval and are not legally permitted for use on vehicles manufactured after 1st March 2001. They are not MOT compliant and cannot be used on public roads. These components are intended solely for race and track use.
For vehicles manufactured before 1st March 2001, a non-type approved sports catalytic converter may be fitted, provided it offers comparable performance to the original and the vehicle continues to meet the applicable emissions standards for its age. The vehicle must still pass an MOT test.
If you are located outside the UK, please check your local laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
