What This Product Does
This supporting mount forms part of the rear shock absorber and coil-spring assembly. It provides the upper mounting interface for the damper, helping to locate the assembly correctly and isolate unwanted movement at the mounting point.
Functions
- Supports the rear shock absorber at its upper mounting point
- Helps maintain correct location of the damper assembly
- Connects the rear damper assembly to the vehicle body
- Helps limit movement and noise from a worn mounting point
Technical Details

- Installation position: Rear
- Quantity required: 2 per car
- Suitable for left- or right-hand rear installation

Symptoms of Fault
- Knocking or rattling from the rear suspension over uneven surfaces
- Harsh impacts or increased vibration entering the body
- Loose movement around the upper shock absorber mounting point
- Vague or unsettled rear suspension behaviour
- Premature wear affecting the damper or associated mounting hardware
Why Replacement Matters
A worn supporting mount can allow unwanted movement within the rear damper assembly, resulting in noise and reduced suspension control. Inspection is advisable when replacing rear shock absorbers, particularly if the existing mounts are aged, perished or loose. Related bump stops, dust covers, spring supports and mounting hardware should also be checked while the assembly is removed.
FAQs
- How many mounts are required? 2 Per car. Price is each.
- Should both rear mounts be inspected together? Yes. Checking both sides helps identify uneven wear and supports balanced rear suspension operation.
- Should other components be checked during installation? Inspect the rear dampers, bump stops, dust covers, spring supports and mounting hardware while access is available.
- Is suspension alignment recommended afterwards? An alignment check is advisable following significant suspension work or where uneven tyre wear is present.
