Diagram: suspension shock and absorber strut 993 1994-98
What This Product Does
The strut combines the front damper and structural suspension housing. It regulates compression and rebound as the spring responds to road inputs, limiting continued oscillation and helping the wheel follow changes in the road surface.
Functions
- Regulates vertical movement of the front suspension
- Controls spring compression and rebound
- Reduces repeated bouncing after road impacts
- Supports consistent tyre contact over uneven surfaces
- Limits body pitch and movement during braking and cornering
- Contributes to predictable steering behaviour and ride control
Technical Details
- Part number: 99334304235
- Component type: complete suspension strut
- Damper manufacturer: Monroe
- Position: front right, marked /R in the exploded diagram
- Diagram application note: M030 TURBOM030/491
- Diagram quantity: 1
Symptoms of Fault
- The front of the car continues to bounce after a bump
- Hydraulic fluid is visible around the strut housing
- Knocking or clunking develops over broken surfaces
- Body movement or nose dive becomes more noticeable under braking
- Steering feels vague or the vehicle becomes unsettled over bumps
- Cupping or irregular wear appears on a front tyre
- The affected corner feels poorly controlled on undulating roads
Why Replacement Matters
Internal seal, valve or fluid deterioration can reduce a strut's ability to regulate suspension movement. Renewal helps return the damping system to its intended operating condition. Front struts are normally replaced in left-and-right pairs so damping remains consistent across the axle. The spring, upper mount, bearing, bump stop, protective boot and nearby suspension joints should also be inspected during installation. A suspension geometry and wheel-alignment check is advisable after the work is completed.
FAQs
- Should both front struts be renewed together?
Replacing them as an axle pair is generally recommended to avoid different damping characteristics between the left and right sides. - Is an alignment check needed after installation?
Yes. Front strut removal can affect suspension geometry, so alignment should normally be checked once the work is complete. - Which related components should be examined?
Inspect the top mounts, bearings, springs, bump stops, protective boots, bushes and mounting hardware for deterioration or play. - How can the correct version be confirmed?
Compare part number 99334304235 with the existing component and verify the vehicle's model, production year and suspension option codes.
