Diagram Ref No 2
This washer is used within the front shock absorber / front strut mounting assembly on selected Porsche models.
What This Part Does / Functions
• Helps locate and seat the shock absorber mounting components correctly
• Supports the correct assembly of the front strut / shock absorber mount
• Helps distribute load through the shock absorber mounting area
• Works with the top mount, bearing, support ring and related suspension components
• Helps maintain correct suspension geometry and shock absorber positioning
• Replaces a worn, corroded, distorted or missing original washer
• Provides correct OE Porsche shape, profile and fitment
• Supports proper suspension rebuild or front damper replacement.
Why Replace This Part?
The shock absorber cone washer is a small but important suspension mounting component. Over time, it can become corroded, flattened, distorted or damaged, especially during shock absorber or top mount removal. If the washer is missing or incorrectly seated, the shock absorber mounting assembly may not clamp or locate correctly. Replacing it with an OE Genuine Porsche cone washer helps ensure the front strut assembly is rebuilt with the correct factory hardware and fitment.
When to Replace This Part
• When replacing front shock absorbers
• During front strut top mount replacement
• When replacing shock absorber bearings, support rings or bump stops
• If the original washer is corroded, bent, flattened or damaged
• If the washer is missing from the shock absorber assembly
• During front suspension overhaul or restoration
• If front suspension noise is traced to worn or incorrectly assembled mounting hardware
• When rebuilding the suspension with correct Genuine Porsche parts.
Where It Fits on the Car
This cone washer fits in the front shock absorber / strut mounting assembly. It is used around the upper section of the front shock absorber assembly with the related mounting, bearing and support components. Correct order of assembly is important. Always follow Porsche workshop procedures when rebuilding the front suspension.
