Information
Shock absorber angular-contact bearing, FRONT.
Front suspension strut bearing (upper damper mount bearing) for Porsche 911 (996 and 997 models) all-wheel drive (4WD) variants. This bearing enables smooth rotation and proper articulation of the front suspension strut assembly, reducing friction and maintaining correct alignment under load. Built to replicate the original equipment’s tolerances, materials and mounting geometry.
Sold each, fits left or right suspension strut
Fits:
Porsche 996 C4 / C4S 1998 - 2005
Porsche 996 Turbo 2001 - 2005
Porsche 997.1 C4 / C4S 2007- 2008
Porsche 997.1 Turbo 2007 - 2009
Porsche 997.2 C4 / C4S 2009 - 2012
Porsche 997.2 Turbo 2010 - 2013
Diagram ref no 11
• Position on Vehicle: Mounted at the top of the front suspension strut/damper assembly, under the front sub-frame, where it supports angular movement and load transfer through the bearing above the strut.
• Cross-Reference / Alternative Numbers: OEM number: 996 343 501 00 (sometimes shown as 99634350100)
• Applications: Replacement when the original front strut bearing shows signs of wear such as noise, binding, or play - restoring correct suspension articulation, reducing noise and preserving handling response.
The front strut top bearing is a key element in the suspension system - linking the strut to the chassis and allowing smooth turning and suspension travel. When the bearing becomes worn, loose or corroded, you may experience clunks, steering noise, compromised alignment or uneven tyre wear. Replacing it with a high-quality OE-Match unit restores silent, precise suspension behaviour and maintains the sophisticated ride and handling that Porsche drivers expect.
When and why to replace:
• Noticeable noise (clunking, groaning) when steering or traversing bumps through the front suspension.
• Excessive play or roughness at the top of the strut when the bonnet is open or during suspension movement.
• Uneven tyre wear or alignment issues traceable to front suspension bearing play.
• After front-end suspension work or damper/strut replacement - when access is available.
• High-mileage vehicle or original bearing installed long ago and potentially at end-of-life.
