This genuine Porsche Secondary Air Pump is an original factory emissions-control component designed for Porsche 958 Cayenne and 970 Panamera models equipped with the 4.8 L V8 engine. This pump forms part of the secondary air injection (SAI) system, which works alongside the catalytic converters and engine management system to reduce exhaust emissions during engine start-up.
Fits:
Porsche 958 Cayenne S / GTS / Turbo 4.8L 2011 - 2018
* option code: 7MG - Emissions concept EU 5
* option code: 7MJ - Emissions concept EU 5J
* option code: 7MM - EU6 plus exhaust concept
Porsche 970 Panamera S/ GTS / Turbo 4.8L 2010 - 2016
* option code: 165 - Emissions concept EU 5
* option code: 7MM - EU6 plus exhaust concept

The secondary air pump injects fresh air into the exhaust system during cold engine start-up. This additional oxygen allows unburned hydrocarbons in the exhaust gases to burn more completely, helping the catalytic converters reach their operating temperature faster and significantly reducing harmful emissions.
The pump operates automatically under the control of the engine management system and works together with secondary air valves and sensors to ensure proper emissions performance.
Functions & Technical Role
• Secondary air injection: Pumps fresh air into the exhaust manifold during cold start
• Emission reduction: Helps burn unburned fuel in exhaust gases
• Catalyst warm-up: Speeds up catalytic converter activation for cleaner emissions
• Engine management integration: Operates with ECU-controlled valves and sensors
• OE reliability: Designed to match Porsche’s original airflow and electrical specifications
Fitment / Position on Car
• Fitting position: Engine compartment / emissions system
• Location: Mounted near the engine and connected to the secondary air injection system and exhaust manifold air passages
• System: Exhaust emissions control system
Secondary air pumps operate during every cold start and are exposed to heat, moisture, and exhaust gases. Over time, internal components or the electric motor can wear out, potentially causing:
• Check engine light related to the secondary air system
• Increased cold-start emissions
• Unusual noise during pump operation
• Failure during emissions inspections
Replacing a worn pump with a genuine Porsche OE unit restores proper emissions control and ensures the engine management system operates as intended.
