Rear tailgate damper set of 2 for Porsche Cayman 981 and 718 (982), suitable for selected Cayman 987C/981C (2005–2016) and 718C (982C) 2017-on models.
What This Product Does These rear lid gas struts support the Cayman tailgate, controlling its lifting and closing motion so the lid can be opened and held in position during everyday use or access to the luggage area.
Functions
- Support the rear tailgate when open
- Control the lifting and closing speed of the lid
- Help prevent the lid from dropping unexpectedly
- Assist with smooth, consistent tailgate operation
Symptoms of Fault
- Rear lid feels heavy or difficult to lift
- Tailgate drops or will not stay fully open
- Visible oil mist or leakage on the damper shaft
- Creaking or knocking noises when opening or closing the lid
Why Replacement Matters
Worn rear lid dampers can allow the Cayman tailgate to drop or close unpredictably and may make the lid awkward to raise. Replacing tired dampers restores controlled movement of the rear lid, supports routine access to the luggage area, and helps maintain correct operation of the tailgate assembly.
