What This Product Does
This rear support serves as a retaining strap in the bumper installation. It helps secure the associated components in their intended position against the rear body structure.
Functions
- Provides a retaining point within the rear bumper assembly
- Supports the correct positioning of adjacent bumper components
- Replaces a missing, bent, corroded or otherwise damaged support
- Maintains the original arrangement of the bumper mounting hardware
Technical Details
- Genuine Porsche component
- Part number: 99650563902
- Exploded-diagram description: rear support
- Component type: retaining strap
- Catalogue application notation: 02-
- Catalogue quantity: 2 per vehicle
The 02- notation identifies this support for the later application period shown in the relevant 996 rear bumper diagrams. The earlier catalogue reference is listed separately, so the vehicle details and bumper specification should be checked before installation.
Symptoms of Fault
- Movement or vibration around the rear bumper assembly
- Bumper components no longer sitting in their intended position
- Corrosion, bending or distortion visible on the support
- Cracked mounting areas or enlarged fixing holes
- A missing retaining strap found when the bumper is removed
Why Replacement Matters
A weakened or absent support may allow adjoining bumper parts to move or sit incorrectly. Installing the appropriate Porsche reference restores the intended retaining arrangement. While access is available, inspect the surrounding strips, screws, rivets and mounting points, replacing any damaged supporting hardware separately as required.
