The Rear Shock Absorber Bushing (Lower) is a high-quality suspension mounting bushing designed to restore correct fitment and isolation at the lower mounting point of the rear shock absorber on compatible Porsche models, commonly within the Cayenne 955 / 957 platform range. This bushing sits between the shock absorber and its lower mounting bracket, providing a cushioned interface that reduces vibration and prevents metal-to-metal contact during suspension movement.

Lower shock absorber bushings play an important role in maintaining ride comfort and stable damping performance by allowing the shock to move smoothly through its travel while keeping the mounting point secure and correctly aligned. Over time, the bushing material can wear, harden, crack, or deform due to age, heat, and repeated load cycles. A worn bushing may cause knocking noises over bumps, increased vibration, and reduced suspension control.
What This Product Does:
- Absorbs vibration and shock loads from the rear suspension
- Provides a quiet mounting point for the lower shock absorber end
- Helps maintain correct shock absorber alignment and movement
- Reduces noise, harshness, and vibration (NVH) transmitted into the cabin
- Allows controlled suspension travel while maintaining damping performance
Symptoms Of A Worn Or Failed Rear Shock Absorber Lower Bushing:
Noise & Comfort Issues
- Clunking, knocking, or thudding sounds from the rear when going over bumps
- Increased vibration or harshness felt in the cabin
- Rattling noises from the rear suspension area
Handling & Ride Quality
- Poor shock absorber response
- Felt “loose” or uncontrolled rear suspension
- Reduced ability to absorb impacts smoothly
Visual & Physical Signs
- Cracks, splits, or tears in the bushing material
- Visible deformation or hardening of the rubber/urethane
- Excessive play at the shock lower mount when inspected
Why Replacement Matters:
- New bushings absorb and isolate impacts far better than old, hardened ones—resulting in a smoother, quieter ride.
- Properly mounted shock absorbers respond more consistently to road inputs, enhancing stability during acceleration, braking, and cornering.
- Replacing worn lower shock bushes eliminates clunking and vibration that occur when metal interfaces directly due to degraded isolators.
- Excessive movement due to worn bushes can place extra stress on shock bodies, mounts, and linkage components—shortening their service life.
