What This Product Does
The lid forms the opening body panel over the rear engine compartment. It provides engine access while completing the surrounding rear bodywork when closed.
Functions
- Covers the rear engine compartment.
- Opens to permit engine inspection and maintenance.
- Replaces a damaged or corroded engine-cover panel during restoration.
Technical Details
- Supplied part reference: 64451200126.
- Brand: OE Match.
- Position: Rear.
- Lock and hinges are not included.
- The 356B / 356C installation diagram states that reworking is necessary.
- Coupé applications are excluded; also excludes CARRERA GT.
Symptoms of Fault
Corrosion, impact damage or an earlier repair may leave the existing panel distorted or poorly aligned. Difficulty opening or closing the lid can also involve the hinges, catch or release mechanism, so inspect these separately before deciding which components need replacement.
Why Replacement Matters
A replacement lid can address panel deterioration or accident damage as part of bodywork restoration. Check the surrounding opening and supporting fittings at the same time, rather than relying on a new panel to correct worn hardware or previous body damage.
FAQs
Does this include the locking mechanism and hinges?
No. The diagram identifies the lid as supplied without these components.
Is this suitable for a coupé?
No. Coupés are excluded from the supplied application information.
Will fitting require adjustment?
The 356B / 356C diagram specifies reworking. Trial-fit and check panel alignment before final finishing.
