- The guide tube/shift rod assembly transfers your shift lever inputs through a rod or tube to the gearbox selector shaft. - It helps maintain the correct geometry and alignment of the shift linkage: by keeping the rods/tubes aligned and secured, the transmission engages gears smoothly, with minimal slack or mis-alignment.
- Because shifting precision depends on how the linkage is held, a good bracket helps ensure crisp gear changes, correct engagement and minimal wear on adjoining components.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Gear shifter feels sloppy or has excessive movement before engaging a gear — the linkage might flex or mis-align.
