Information
Vacuum pump for the brake servo.
It’s a vacuum pump that generates and supplies vacuum pressure to the brake booster (servo), helping amplify the driver’s brake pedal force. Without its assistance, braking becomes harder and less responsive.
Fits:
Porsche 987.2 Boxster 2009 - 2012
Porsche 981 Boxster 2012 - 2016
Porsche 987C.2 Cayman 2009 - 2012
Porsche 981C Cayman 2014 - 2016
Porsche 997.2 2009 - 2012
Porsche 997.2 Turbo / Turbo S 2010 - 2013
Porsche 991.1 2012 - 2016
Porsche 991.1 Turbo 2014 - 2017
Diagram ref no 10
The pump connects between the engine and the brake booster, often located in the engine bay near the intake or accessory mounting area.
What this pump does:
• Creates vacuum for the brake booster so less pedal effort is required
• Maintains consistent vacuum under engine load and conditions to support stable braking
• Ensures the brake servo has the suction needed for efficient braking response
A failing vacuum pump reduces or loses the vacuum needed by the brake booster, leading to a hard, heavy brake pedal and reduced braking assist If it leaks, cracks, or loses suction over time, braking performance and safety degrade. Replacing it with a genuine unit ensures proper vacuum levels, restoring smooth, efficient braking and maintaining safety and reliability.
