What This Product Does:
- Detects the position of the clutch pedal.
- Sends clutch pedal status to the engine control unit (ECU).
- Enables the engine start interlock system where applicable.
- Supports correct operation of the cruise control system.
- Assists engine management functions during gear changes.
- Provides accurate electrical switching for vehicle control systems.
- Restores factory clutch pedal sensing performance.
- Forms an essential part of the vehicle's clutch and electrical system.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Engine failing to start when the clutch pedal is depressed.
- Cruise control failing to engage or disengage correctly.
- Intermittent starting issues.
- Clutch switch fault codes stored in the ECU.
- Inconsistent clutch pedal recognition.
- Dashboard warning lights relating to the clutch or engine management system.
- Erratic operation of driver assistance systems.
- Electrical faults associated with clutch pedal input.
- Poor switch response or complete switch failure.
- Reduced reliability of vehicle control systems.
Why Replacement Matters:
- The clutch pedal switch is activated every time the clutch pedal is pressed and released, making it one of the most frequently operated electrical switches in the vehicle. Over time, the internal contacts can wear, become contaminated or fail, resulting in unreliable electrical signals to the engine management and vehicle control systems.
- A faulty clutch pedal switch can prevent the engine from starting, disable cruise control or interfere with other systems that rely on accurate clutch pedal position information. These issues can affect both convenience and vehicle safety, particularly in manual transmission models.
- Replacing a worn or faulty switch restores reliable communication between the clutch pedal and the vehicle's electronic systems. The OE Match Clutch Pedal Switch is manufactured to OE standards using premium-quality materials, providing factory-style fitment, dependable switching performance and long-lasting durability, ensuring the reliability and functionality expected from your Porsche.

Information
Clutch Pedal PSM / Cruise Switch.
The clutch pedal safety switch signals the vehicle’s control systems whenever the clutch pedal is depressed or released. It is a critical safety device that allows the engine to start only when the clutch is engaged. It also provides clutch position feedback to systems such as cruise control, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), and transmission logic.

Diagram Ref No 17
As the driver presses or releases the clutch pedal, this switch opens or closes its internal contacts. That change in status is interpreted by the vehicle’s control modules, allowing correct sequencing of starter engagement and informing dynamic control systems of mechanical clutch state. Its precise calibration and genuine parts engineering ensure consistent signal quality and long-term reliability.
A faulty clutch pedal safety switch can prevent the engine from starting, cause erratic cruise control behaviour, trigger warning lights, or provide incorrect input to vehicle safety systems. Because it is tied to safety and drivetrain logic, replacing a worn or failed switch ensures restored functionality, correct system behaviour, and full compatibility with original vehicle control systems.
When to replace:
• Engine will not crank unless the clutch is depressed
• Cruise control fails to engage or drops unexpectedly
• PSM or stability warnings related to clutch status
• Intermittent or inconsistent clutch position signals
• During clutch pedal or pedal assembly service or replacement

Information
Clutch Pedal PSM / Cruise Switch.
This clutch pedal switch sits behind the clutch pedal and communicates pedal position to the vehicle’s electrical systems. When the clutch pedal is depressed or released, it relays that signal to the starter, cruise control, PSM (Porsche Stability Management), and other relevant systems that depend on clutch position information. Designed to match the original part’s electrical characteristics, housing, and fitment, it installs into the factory mounting point without modification.

The clutch pedal switch ensures the vehicle can only be started when the clutch is depressed, enhances safety by providing input to cruise control and transmission logic, and informs stability and traction systems of clutch engagement status. A properly functioning switch prevents starter engagement unless conditions are safe and contributes to smooth operation of related vehicle functions.
Function:
As a microswitch mounted near the clutch pedal, this part closes and opens its contact in sync with pedal travel. That change in contact state is interpreted by the vehicle’s ECU and safety systems, enabling starter activation, cancelling cruise when appropriate, and helping ensure proper control logic throughout the driveline. Its OE-match design ensures consistent signal quality and long service life in typical operating environments.
A failed clutch pedal switch can prevent the engine from starting, inhibit cruise control function, trigger false warnings, or interfere with stability control inputs. Because it’s a safety-critical sensor tied to multiple control systems, replacing a worn, intermittent, or failed switch with an OE Match part ensures proper system response and restores reliable interface between the clutch and vehicle electronics.
When to replace:
• Engine won’t start unless specific clutch pedal positions are met
• Cruise control doesn’t engage or disengages unexpectedly
• Clutch position signal feels intermittent or inconsistent
• Dashboard warnings related to clutch/safety logic
• During clutch or pedal assembly service

This clutch pedal switch sits behind the clutch pedal and communicates pedal position to the vehicle’s electrical systems. When the clutch pedal is depressed or released, it relays that signal to the starter, cruise control, PSM (Porsche Stability Management), and other relevant systems that depend on clutch position information. Designed to match the original part’s electrical characteristics, housing, and fitment, it installs into the factory mounting point without modification.
