Information
Sport exhaust vacuum replacement unit
This Porsche Genuine OE Sport Exhaust Vacuum Replacement Unit is a critical component of the Porsche Sports Exhaust system used on Porsche 981 and 991.1 models. It controls the operation of the exhaust valves, allowing the system to switch between refined everyday driving and the enhanced Porsche sports exhaust sound. As a genuine Porsche part, it guarantees exact fitment, reliable operation, and factory exhaust performance.
Sold individually, Fits Left or Right side.
Fits:
For cars with Sport exhaust system (option code: XLF)
Porsche 981 Boxster 2012 - 2016
Porsche 981SP Boxster Spyder 2016
Porsche 981C Cayman 2014 - 2016
Porsche 981C Cayman GT4 2016
Porsche 991.1 Carrera 2012 - 2016
The vacuum unit operates the exhaust flap mechanism within the Porsche Sports Exhaust system. When activated, it adjusts the position of the exhaust valves to alter:
• Exhaust sound characteristics
• Exhaust gas flow
• Engine sound profile
In normal mode, the valves remain more restricted for quieter operation and improved comfort. In sport mode, the actuator opens the valves to deliver the distinctive Porsche sports exhaust sound and enhanced exhaust flow.
Functions & Technical Role
• Exhaust valve control: Operates the Porsche Sports Exhaust flap system
• Vacuum actuation: Uses engine vacuum to control exhaust valve movement
• Sound management: Switches between standard and sport exhaust sound profiles
• OEM integration: Designed specifically for factory Porsche PSE systems
• Precision operation: Ensures smooth and reliable exhaust valve function
Fitment / Position on car
• Fitting position: Exhaust system
• Location: Mounted on the rear exhaust silencer / exhaust valve assembly
• Side: Left or Right depending on application
• System: Porsche Sports Exhaust (PSE) vacuum control system
The vacuum actuator is essential for correct operation of the Porsche Sports Exhaust system. A faulty unit can prevent the exhaust valves from opening or closing correctly, affecting both sound and performance characteristics.
When to replace
• Exhaust valves not switching between modes
• Sports exhaust permanently loud or quiet
• Vacuum leaks or actuator failure
• Fault codes related to exhaust flap control
• Corrosion or damage to the vacuum mechanism
