What This Product Does
The relay roller, also known as an idler pulley or guide pulley, provides a rotating contact point for the ribbed V-belt. It helps route the belt correctly around the accessory-drive components while supporting stable belt alignment.
Functions
- Guides the ribbed V-belt along its intended path
- Provides a smooth rotating surface for the belt
- Supports correct belt alignment within the accessory drive
- Helps reduce unwanted belt movement and tracking problems
Technical Details
- Part number: 95510211801
- Component type: idler pulley or relay roller for the Poly-V-belt drive
- Diagram ref no 11
Symptoms of Fault
- Squealing or chirping that changes with engine speed
- Rumbling or whining from the pulley bearing
- Visible pulley wobble while the engine is running
- Belt dust around the pulleys or nearby components
- Uneven belt tracking, glazing or edge wear
- Roughness or play when the pulley is checked with the engine switched off
Why Replacement Matters
A worn pulley bearing can create noise, unwanted movement and irregular belt tracking. Continued use may accelerate wear of the ribbed belt or other parts in the accessory drive. Inspect the belt, tensioner and adjacent rollers at the same time so that worn supporting components can be identified before reassembly.
FAQs
- Is this the belt tensioner?
No. It is an idler or guide pulley within the ribbed V-belt system. The tensioner is a separate component. - Should the belt be inspected during replacement?
Yes. Check for cracking, glazing, contamination and uneven edge wear, and inspect the other rollers and tensioner for noise or play. - How should compatibility be confirmed?
