What an Adjustable Camshaft Sprocket Does
The camshaft sprocket controls the timing relationship
between the crankshaft and camshaft. By adjusting cam timing, you influence
when the valves open and close relative to piston position.
This affects:

By advancing or retarding the camshaft timing, you can shift the torque band higher or lower in the RPM range depending on your intended use.
