Fits:
- Porsche 914 1970-76
Diagram ref no 12, 13
Over time, original trunk locks can become worn, corroded or difficult to operate. This replacement kit provides the essential components for refurbishing the lock assembly while maintaining the original-style chrome finish.
Kit Contents
Chrome lock housing Chrome lock cylinder barrel Rear trunk lock sealWhat Does It Do?
The rear trunk lock secures the luggage compartment lid and allows access using the vehicle key. The housing supports the locking mechanism, while the seal helps prevent moisture entering around the installation.
Why Does It Fail?
Common causes of failure include:
- Worn or seized lock cylinder
- Corrosion and moisture damage
- Damaged chrome housing
- Hardened or cracked rubber seal
- General wear from repeated use
When Should It Be Replaced?
Replace the lock components if the key becomes difficult to turn, the mechanism sticks, the housing is damaged or the seal has deteriorated.
The kit is also ideal for restoring the original appearance of the rear trunk lock during bodywork refurbishment.
Installation Notes
Inspect the existing latch and mounting hardware before fitting. Check lock operation with the trunk lid open before closing it. Key compatibility or re-keying requirements should be confirmed separately.
