Transmission Cover Securing Strap. Porsche 914 1970–76 - 91442450301

Information
Transmission Cover Securing Strap
This replacement span-band assembly holds the transmission control cover in its intended position and recreates the original fastening arrangement.
Fits
- 914 (1970–1976)
Diagram Ref No 1
What This Product Does
The strap wraps around the transmission control housing cover, applying the tension required to keep the cover securely seated. By retaining the cover correctly, it helps shield the associated gearshift components from dirt, moisture and road debris. It is suitable for transmission repairs, linkage servicing and originality-focused restorations.
Functions
- Secures the transmission control cover to its housing
- Maintains the correct position of the protective cover
- Helps limit contamination around the gearshift mechanism
- Replaces a missing, damaged or improvised retaining clamp
- Restores the original span-band style of fastening
Technical Details
- Porsche parts-catalogue description: hose clamp
- Shown within the Porsche 914 transmission control assembly for 1973 onward
- Supplied with the band, securing clip, tension cotter and fitting instructions
- One securing assembly is required per applicable transmission cover
Symptoms of Fault
- Transmission control cover is loose or moves from its seated position
- Original retaining band is missing, distorted or corroded
- A worm-drive hose clamp or other improvised fixing has been installed
- Securing clip or tension cotter is damaged or absent
- Dirt or moisture is visible around the covered selector mechanism
Why Replacement Matters
A damaged or missing strap can allow the cover to shift, reducing the protection provided to the transmission control components. Replacing an improvised worm-drive clamp with the correct span-band arrangement also restores a more authentic appearance. This component was unavailable for many years and is appropriate for careful maintenance or a period-correct restoration.
Check fitment for your specific vehicle, including its model year and transmission configuration, before ordering. The associated transmission control diagram identifies this strap within the 1973-onward assembly.
FAQs
- What is included?
The assembly includes the metal band, clip, tension cotter and instructions explaining how to wrap and tension it. - What does this replace?
It replaces the original span band and can remove the need for a non-standard worm-drive hose clamp installation. - Where is it installed?
It fits around the cover on the transmission control housing and is identified as position 35 in the applicable parts diagram. - Is more than one required?
One securing strap assembly is used for the applicable transmission cover.

For those who are concerned of any slight noise or vibrations from the metal cable ends that provide the durability of the cables.
Some hear a slight vibrations, others do not.
This is a great solution to cover up any add-on noise.
Instructions: Cut the tube in a spiral so that you don't need to use any zip ties to hold it on. One twist per foot will work just fine. It is also important that you reuse the rubber grommet that hold the cables in the firewall.
