Wood Support for Trunk Carpet
Restore the structure and original appearance of your classic Porsche luggage compartment with this OE Match Wood Support for Trunk Carpet. This precision-manufactured replacement panel provides the rigid foundation required to correctly support the front trunk carpet, helping recreate the clean, factory-finished appearance of the luggage compartment.
During a restoration, attention is often focused on visible
trim and upholstery, while the structural backing panels hidden beneath the
carpet are frequently overlooked. Over time, the original wood support can
warp, absorb moisture, split, delaminate or become damaged during previous
repairs. A deteriorated backing panel can cause the carpet to sag, wrinkle or
sit unevenly, reducing both the appearance and practicality of the front
luggage compartment.
Fits:
- Porsche 911 1965-1968 2.0L / 912 SWB (F)
- Porsche 911 1968-1973 2.2L / 2.4L / 2.7L RS LWB (F)
Manufactured to OE Match standards, this wood support is accurately shaped to provide proper carpet support and a precise fit, making it an essential component for concours restorations, interior refurbishments and front luggage compartment repairs.
What Does the Trunk Carpet Wood Support Do?
The wood support acts as the structural backing for the front trunk carpet, ensuring it sits flat and securely within the luggage compartment.
Its primary functions include:
- Supporting the front trunk carpet.
- Maintaining a smooth, factory-style appearance.
- Preventing the carpet from sagging or shifting.
- Providing rigidity to the luggage compartment trim.
- Helping maintain the correct fit of surrounding trim panels.
- Contributing to the overall presentation of the front boot.
Although concealed beneath the carpet, this panel plays an important role in achieving a professional-quality restoration.
Why Replace the Wood Support?
Original backing panels often deteriorate after decades of use and exposure to moisture.
Common reasons for replacement include:
- Warped or swollen wood.
- Water damage from leaks.
- Delaminated or split panels.
- Previous repair damage.
- Broken mounting areas.
- Poor carpet fitment.
- Full interior or luggage compartment restoration.
Replacing the support panel restores the correct foundation for the carpet while improving the overall appearance of the front luggage compartment.
