The oil filler neck rubber sleeve forms the flexible connection between the oil filler neck and the oil tank, creating a secure, oil-tight seal while allowing for the slight movement that naturally occurs between the engine, oil tank and bodywork. This flexibility is essential, as the engine and drivetrain move slightly on their mounts during acceleration, braking and cornering. The rubber sleeve absorbs this movement without placing unnecessary stress on the filler neck or oil tank.
A properly functioning rubber sleeve prevents engine oil from leaking during normal driving and helps stop dirt, dust and moisture from entering the oil system through the filler neck connection.

Why Do Oil Filler Neck Rubber Sleeves Fail?
The original rubber sleeve is subjected to constant heat from the engine and exhaust system, repeated thermal expansion and contraction, oil vapours and environmental ageing. Over time, the rubber gradually hardens, loses its flexibility and develops cracks or splits.
