Also known as an upstream, pre-cat or O2 sensor, the lambda sensor measures the oxygen content remaining in the exhaust gases immediately after combustion. It sends this information to the engine control unit (ECU), allowing the ECU to determine whether the engine is operating with a rich or lean air-fuel mixture and adjust fuel delivery accordingly.
Because this sensor is located before the catalyst, it plays an important role in closed-loop fuel control. Accurate readings help maintain efficient combustion, responsive engine performance, appropriate fuel consumption and controlled exhaust emissions.
Lambda sensors operate in an extremely demanding environment and are continually exposed to high exhaust temperatures, vibration and combustion deposits. With age, the sensing element may become contaminated or slow to respond, while the internal heater circuit, wiring or connector can also deteriorate.
This OE Match Right Lambda Oxygen Sensor provides a high-quality replacement for a worn, contaminated, damaged or failed original sensor.

Why Replacement Matters:
- The pre-catalytic converter lambda sensor is a key feedback component within the engine-management system. The ECU relies on its signal to make continual adjustments to fuel delivery as engine speed, load and operating conditions change.
- As a lambda sensor deteriorates, it can become slower or less accurate without immediately failing completely. This may result in less precise mixture control and contribute to higher fuel consumption, reduced performance, unstable running and increased emissions.
- Incorrect fuelling can also affect the catalytic converter. An excessively rich mixture may allow unburned fuel to enter the exhaust system, potentially increasing catalyst temperatures and accelerating deterioration.
- If the sensor fails completely, the ECU may substitute calculated values or adopt a fallback strategy. The vehicle may remain driveable, but performance, fuel economy and emissions can be compromised.

The Oxygen Sensor (also known as Lambda Sensor) is located in the exhaust manifold and measures the amount of unburned oxygen in your engine's exhaust. Based on the amount of oxygen, it sends a signal to your engine computer which then adjusts the air/fuel mixture for optimum engine performance and emission control.
Failure Symptoms:
• Excessive fuel consumption, a faulty oxygen sensor can waste 30% of your fuel.
• Driveability problems, such as engine surging or hesitation.
• High hydrocarbon emissions, failing an emissions inspection.
• The engine warning light may be on or service flag displayed.
• The ecu/computer stores a mixture-related fault code.
• When the oxygen sensor has stopped functioning completely, the catalytic converter may overheat and fail
Maintenance/Service:
• Test and/or replace every 30,000 miles.
• Perform periodic emission checks.
• Watch for service light.
• Vehicle manufacturers recommend periodic inspection and replacement of oxygen sensor.
