Corrosion of the original rear crossmember brackets is a known problem on ageing Porsche 964s. As the brackets are not normally available separately through the Porsche parts programme, repairing this area has traditionally meant replacing the complete rear crossmember, Porsche reference 96450502000.
This replacement bracket set provides a considerably more practical solution by allowing the original crossmember to be professionally repaired and retained.
What Does the Bracket Set Do?
The brackets form part of the mounting arrangement of the rear reinforcement bar. When the original brackets become corroded or structurally damaged, they can be removed and replaced without having to discard an otherwise serviceable complete crossmember.
The replacement brackets have been manufactured to closely replicate the geometry, construction and appearance of the original components, including the original-style dimensions, edges and radii.
Importantly, they are manufactured as pressed components rather than simple fabricated substitutes, helping reproduce the construction of the factory brackets.
Why Do the Original Brackets Fail?
