What This Product Does:
- This oil line extension carries high-pressure oil from the camshaft feed (or appropriate oil gallery) to the timing chain tensioner mechanism. The tensioner ensures correct chain slack and timing of the engine’s valve train.
- Because the timing chain system is under constant stress (heat, RPM, vibration), the feed line must maintain integrity, correct diameter, correct routing, correct fittings and leak-free operation to protect the chain drive system.
Symptoms & Signs It May Need Replacement:
- Oil leakage around the chain-cover region, especially on the driver’s side near the timing chain housing or tensioner.
- Excess chain noise or slapping from the timing chain area — a failing feed line could reduce tensioner performance, allowing slack.
- Low oil pressure or warning associated with engine timing assembly (though this is less direct).
- During engine rebuild or timing chain service: if the original line is old, has suffered heat damage, is bent, kinked, or the wrong specification, replacement is highly recommended.
