Diagram ref no 3
This clamp is used in the front axle tray / underbody protection panel mounting system on selected Porsche 986 and 996 models.
What This Part Does / Functions
• Secures the front axle C2 tray / undertray panel
• Helps hold the underbody protective covering in place
• Maintains correct undertray alignment and fitment
• Helps prevent tray movement, vibration or rattling
• Replaces a missing, corroded, bent or damaged original clamp
• Supports correct reassembly after undertray removal
• Provides OE Porsche metal clamp fitment and durability
• Helps maintain the factory underbody panel mounting arrangement.
Why Replace This Part?
Undertray clamps are exposed to road spray, salt, dirt, heat, vibration and repeated removal during servicing. Over time, the clamp can corrode, bend, weaken or go missing. A missing or damaged clamp may allow the front axle tray to sit loose, rattle, sag or detach from its correct mounting position. Replacing it with an OE Genuine Porsche metal clamp helps restore secure undertray fitment and keeps the front underbody protection panel correctly fastened.
Common Symptoms of a Missing or Damaged Clamp
• Loose front undertray or axle tray
• Rattling or vibration from the front underbody area
• Undertray panel not sitting flush
• Missing clamp after previous service work
• Corroded or bent clamp hardware
• Underbody cover movement at speed
• Poor alignment of the C2 tray panel
• Damaged fixing point during undertray removal.
When to Replace This Part
• When refitting the front axle tray / C2 tray
• If the original clamp is missing, corroded, bent or damaged
• During front undertray or underbody panel replacement
• After front-end or underside impact damage
• During routine servicing if undertray hardware is worn
• When replacing broken or incorrect retaining clips
• During restoration of the front underbody panel system
Where It Fits on the Car
This clamp fits in the front underbody / front axle tray area. It is used to retain the front axle C2 tray / underbody protective covering to the vehicle’s front underside mounting points.
Correct positioning is important to ensure the tray sits securely and does not rattle or move while driving.

What This Product Does
The lining forms the complete section of the original underbody trim assembly. It covers the corresponding area beneath the vehicle, helping limit exposure of adjacent components to water, dirt and road debris while maintaining the intended arrangement of the factory underbody panels.
Functions
- Restores the section of the underbody lining
- Provides a barrier against dirt, water and road debris
- Supports the original underbody panel layout
- Replaces a cracked, distorted, loose or absent panel
Technical Details
- Catalogue description: underbody trim, complete
- Required quantity shown in the diagrams: 1
- Recorded weight: approximately 1.106 kg
Symptoms of Fault
- Visible cracking, splitting or sections missing from the lining
- Loose edges or broken attachment points
- Rattling or fluttering sounds when the vehicle is moving
- A warped panel sitting below the surrounding underbody
- Scraping caused by the trim contacting the road
- Absent or damaged retaining nuts, screws or clips
Why Replacement Matters
A broken or missing lining exposes the surrounding underside to increased contamination and stone impact. Renewing the panel restores the original coverage and helps prevent loose trim from moving or dragging. Check the mounting locations, expanding nuts and panel bolts during installation, replacing damaged fasteners where necessary so the new lining can be secured correctly.
