Diagram ref no 23 and 24
Used on a wide range of vehicles—1965–1998 Porsche 911, 912, 914, 944, 964 and 993—the original visor pivot is built around a steel pin embedded into a plastic housing. Over time, heat, UV exposure and age cause this plastic housing to crack, leading to a loose pivot pin and a visor that refuses to stay in place.
This improved aluminium mount replicates the original part’s dimensions and appearance while delivering dramatically enhanced strength, longevity and reliability. Finished in black powder coat, it is the ultimate interior upgrade for restoring proper visor operation in classic Porsche cabins.
What This Sun Visor Mount Does
The visor mount holds the sun visor securely at its pivot point, allowing the visor to rotate smoothly and stay firmly positioned—whether flipped up, folded down or angled to block sunlight.
Key Functions
- Supports the visor’s rotation and pivoting
- Holds the visor firmly in position without sagging
- Prevents visor from dropping or swinging unexpectedly
- Ensures correct alignment and smooth operation
- Maintains original interior feel and usability
This heavy-duty mount restores the visor’s intended functionality and driving comfort—especially important for older Porsche models where interior plastics degrade with age.
Why Sun Visor Mounts Fail
Original visor mounts use a plastic base housing with a steel pivot pin inserted into it. Over years of exposure, this material becomes brittle and fails.
Common Failure Causes
- UV
exposure weakening plastic housing
- High
interior temperatures causing embrittlement
- Aging
material cracking around the embedded pin
- Stresses from frequent visor movement
- Vibration loosening the pivot over time
Once the plastic cracks, the pin loses tension, and the visor drops, swings loosely or refuses to remain in the “up” position.
Why This Replacement Should Be Installed
Replacing your cracked or failing visor mount with this strengthened aluminium version immediately restores proper visor function and eliminates ongoing frustration.
