Porsche 996 - 1998 to 2005 (LHD)
Porsche Carrera GT (LHD)
Diagram ref no 14.
What This Product Does
The door lock provides the locking mechanism for the applicable left-hand door. It is intended for repairs where inspection has identified wear or a fault within the existing lock, rather than an unrelated handle or key problem.
Functions
- Provides the left-door locking mechanism.
- Replaces a worn or faulty lock in the specified LHD application.
Symptoms of Fault
Intermittent locking, sticking operation or difficulty operating the lock can warrant inspection. Similar symptoms may involve the handle, key or associated components, so diagnosis should establish which part requires replacement.
Why Replacement Matters
Renewing a confirmed faulty lock can address unreliable door access or locking operation. OE Match focuses on Porsche replacement applications; matching the reference, production details and installation side remains essential.
FAQs

Inspired by the legendary Porsche 917 racing car, the RennSwitch pays tribute to one of Porsche's most distinctive motorsport innovations. In pursuit of lightweight performance and engineering simplicity, Porsche racing engineers incorporated a fixed, drilled key design into the ignition system, creating a functional switch that reflected the uncompromising philosophy of endurance racing.
Formawerx has reinterpreted this iconic concept for modern Porsche vehicles, combining authentic motorsport-inspired design with contemporary precision manufacturing.
Each RennSwitch is CNC-machined from Formawerx Perpetua Stainless Steel™, providing outstanding durability, corrosion resistance and a distinctive premium finish. Manufactured to Swiss watchmaking standards, the keypiece offers exceptional craftsmanship, precise detailing and a substantial, refined feel during operation.
Designed to match original Porsche factory specifications, the RennSwitch replaces the removable ignition control keypiece fitted to compatible Porsche Entry & Drive systems, providing a stylish and functional interface for operating the vehicle's ignition.
Available in silver or black, with Machined or Frozen Matte finishes, the RennSwitch transforms an everyday action into a more engaging driving experience.
Whether replacing a worn or damaged original ignition control or upgrading the appearance of a modern Porsche interior, the Formawerx Legends RennSwitch provides an exceptional combination of functionality, craftsmanship and Porsche racing heritage.
What This Product Does:
The Formawerx Legends RennSwitch serves as the physical ignition control keypiece for compatible Porsche vehicles equipped with the factory Entry & Drive system.
Its primary functions and features include:
- Ignition Control: Provides the physical control used to operate the vehicle's ignition system when the authorised Entry & Drive key is detected.
- Engine Starting and Stopping: Allows the driver to initiate the normal engine starting and stopping process through the vehicle's existing ignition system.
- Entry & Drive Integration: Designed for compatible Porsche factory Entry & Drive ignition assemblies.
- Direct Replacement Fitment: Replaces the original removable ignition control keypiece without changing the vehicle's underlying electronic security system.
- Precision Mechanical Engagement: Manufactured to original equipment-style dimensions for accurate fitment and controlled rotational operation.
- Premium Stainless Steel Construction: Perpetua Stainless Steel™ provides excellent strength, corrosion resistance and long-term durability.
- Motorsport-Inspired Design: Incorporates styling inspired by the fixed ignition key concept associated with the Porsche 917 racing car.
- Enhanced Interior Appearance: Adds a distinctive precision-machined detail to the vehicle's dashboard.
- Improved Tactile Experience: Offers a substantial, carefully balanced feel when operating the ignition control.
The RennSwitch is a physical ignition control component, not a replacement electronic key fob or vehicle immobiliser. The vehicle's original Entry & Drive electronics and authorised key remain necessary for normal operation.
Why Choose Formawerx Legends — RennSwitch:
The Formawerx Legends RennSwitch is more than a replacement ignition control. It is a carefully crafted tribute to Porsche's extraordinary motorsport engineering heritage.
