The heating tube directs hot air generated by the engine’s exhaust-heated heat exchangers into the cabin area via the sill ducting. This ensures your classic Porsche’s heater system distributes warmth effectively, improving defogging, defrosting, and passenger comfort in cooler weather.
Function: Installed along the inner sill section, this tube captures heat from the heater system and delivers it through the duct network into the footwell or cabin air distribution points. A properly functioning heater tube helps maintain consistent cabin temperature and prevents heat loss due to damage or age-related degradation of the original ducting.
Over decades of use, original heater tubes can become cracked, brittle, or collapsed, leading to poor airflow, heat loss, or even exhaust gas intrusion into the cabin air system. Replacing the deteriorated tube with an OE Match unit restores effective hot-air distribution, improves cabin comfort and heater efficiency, and keeps the vintage heating system functioning as intended.
Replace this heating tube when you notice:
• Weak or inconsistent warm air delivery from the heater
• Deteriorated, cracked, or collapsed heater tubing
• Excessive heat loss before reaching the cabin
• Unusual smells from heater ducts (possible leaks)
• During full heater system or sill restoration work
