What This Glow Plug Does
Glow plugs heat the combustion chamber to assist ignition in diesel engines, especially in cold conditions.
They help:
• Ensure smooth and reliable cold starts
• Improve fuel combustion efficiency
• Reduce emissions during start-up
• Support stable engine performance
• Minimise engine misfires during warm-up
Why Glow Plugs Fail
Glow plugs are exposed to high temperatures and repeated heating cycles, making them a common service item.
Common causes include:
• Wear from repeated heating cycles
• Carbon build-up on the tip
• Electrical failure of the heating element
• Age-related degradation
Symptoms of Faulty Glow Plugs
• Difficult or slow engine starting
• Rough idle when cold
• Increased exhaust smoke on start-up
• Glow plug warning light on dashboard
• Reduced fuel efficiency
Why Replace Your Glow Plugs
• Restore reliable cold starting performance
• Improve combustion efficiency
• Reduce emissions and smoke
• Prevent further engine strain
• Maintain diesel engine reliability
