What This Product Does
The gearshift lever transfers the driver's movement into the manual transmission shift mechanism. A correctly located lever helps the linkage follow the intended shift gate with controlled movement.
Functions
- Provides the driver's main control point for manual gear selection
- Transfers lever movement through the gearshift linkage
- Helps maintain controlled movement within the shift gate
- Replaces a lever affected by wear around its locating pin
Technical Details
- Product type: gearshift lever
- Brand: OE Match
- Application: manual gearshift mechanism
- Diagram reference: 18
Symptoms of Fault
- Excessive movement at the gear lever
- Loose or vague movement across the shift gate
- Difficulty locating the intended gear position accurately
- Visible wear around the lever pin or adjoining contact point
Why Replacement Matters
Wear at the original lever can introduce substantial play and make gear selection feel less controlled. Replacing the worn component can restore the intended relationship between the lever and linkage, although adjoining bushes and shift-control parts should also be inspected for wear.
FAQs
- Which models use this lever? It is listed for Porsche 924 from 1976–85, Porsche 924S from 1986–88 and Porsche 944 from 1982–91.
- When should the lever be replaced? Replacement should be considered when pin wear causes pronounced looseness or excessive movement within the shift gate.
- Should other shift components be checked? Yes. Bushes, joints and related linkage components can also contribute to imprecise gear selection and should be inspected during the repair.
Check fitment for your specific vehicle (model, year, engine) before ordering.
