This kit does not include the transmission oil pan, but focuses on the parts most commonly renewed during transmission servicing: the gasket that seals the sump, and the strainer that filters contamination before it enters the transmission pump.
Function:
• The sump gasket seals the joint between the transmission case and the oil sump (pan), preventing automatic transmission fluid (ATF) leaks and maintaining proper fluid containment.
• The gearbox oil strainer (filter) helps trap large debris and contaminants before the fluid is drawn up into the transmission pump, protecting internal gearbox components and hydraulic circuits.
Together, these parts help ensure that the transmission fluid remains clean, contained, and circulating properly - essential for smooth shifting, effective lubrication, and long service life.
During transmission service, the oil strainer and sump gasket are among the components most exposed to wear, contamination, and sealing fatigue:
• A clogged or restricted strainer can reduce fluid flow and stress the transmission pump
• A worn or hardened sump gasket can leak ATF, leading to low fluid levels and overheating
• Contaminants left unchecked can degrade shift quality, cause erratic operation, or accelerate component wear.
